2020 PDC Home Tour III – Group 15 Tips and Betting Preview

The final week of the PDC Home Tour III gets underway on Monday when Group 15 of the competition takes place as seven men have one last chance to get enough points to push for the Championship Group on Friday.

Everybody knows the format by now and the players involved will have understood what it takes to make hay on a day where six matches get played by everyone and the points are all tallied up come the end of proceedings.

The Format

42 players will compete in PDC Home Tour III and they will all compete in three of the 18 groups in the first round where their results will be accumulated on one overall league table where the top seven at the end of the initial 18 days of action will form a Championship Group from which the overall champion will be crowned. All matches are the best of seven legs and the tournament will be broadcast on PDC.tv or the bookmaker streaming sites.

The Favourites

It might be quite late in the day with only four groups of the regular part of the competition left but Damon Heta makes his bow in PDC Home Tour III on Monday and he’ll play two straight days to catch up. He will be the man expected to win this group and we’ve seen throughout Home Tour III that the standout player in the field often gets the job done so it will be interesting to see if a lack of a previous run this season goes against him or not.

The Outsiders

There are six other men who will all be out to beat the Australian. They include Kim Huybrechts who picked up five wins in the only group he has played so far. Martin Schindler is also in the field here and this will be his final group. He has only won four matches in his opening two groups so he’s playing for pride unlike James Wilson who has seven wins already, the same number that William Borland has. Kai Fan Leung is also on that number with Carl Wilkinson beginning on 16pts.

Group Betting

I haven’t been getting involved in the group betting much throughout this tournament and I’m not going to here either. Damon Heta is clearly the standout player in the field but he hasn’t played in this season of Home Tour III. There are one or two in the field who are playing for pride and not much else which doesn’t make betting on them all that appetising, although to be fair those who will be at the World Championship next week at least have something to use this day for.

If I was going to have a bet I’d probably chance my arm at one of the outsiders but this is a pretty competitive group so I’m not convinced any of them are particularly overpriced, maybe with the exception of Carl Wilkinson who seems to enjoy himself in the Home Tour outings. All in all though I wouldn’t be surprised if the next time I get involved in the group betting is in the Championship group. It certainly isn’t here.

Match Betting

Martin Schindler isn’t playing for a whole lot so he would be the man I would want to take on over the course of the day here, it is just working out who could be best to do it with. I’m prepared to take him on Carl Wilkinson who as I’ve highlighted above looks to really enjoy himself when it comes to playing on the Home Tour, where generally his better results come along, including wins over John Henderson, Steve Beaton and Chris Dobey in this particular season of it.

These two have met twice on the tour and even though the floor results of Wilkinson have never really been anything to write home about it is interesting that he has won both their previous matches so that is very much a positive for me here. The other reason I like Wilkinson is that he has the throw in the match and we regularly see how important that can be. When you throw it all together the 13/8 on the Englishman looks an acceptable punt to me here.
