2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Friday 29th May Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Remote Darts League returns from its night off on Friday and it does so with four players once again chasing valuable league points as we move into the second half of the regular season, where the significance of every match gathers in importance.

We have three of the best male players on the WDF circuit in action on Friday evening as well as the best female player in the campaign so far so we should be right to expect a very competitive session of darts.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Wednesday Recap

The semi-finalist from season one, Tony O’Shea, made his move on Wednesday evening when he picked up five of the six points open to him and significantly enhanced his leg difference in the process. The night actually begun with the one game he dropped a point in, although having trailed 5-0 to Joe Chaney before levelling to earn a point, even that would have felt like a win. David Cameron then saw off Tina Osborne 6-1 before the Canadian drew with Joe Chaney in a good match. Osborne then lost 6-1 to O’Shea before almost getting a point against Chaney, only to go down 6-4. The night ended with O’Shea dominating Cameron for a 6-2 win.

We went into the evening with just the one bet and that landed. We required more than 2.5 180s when David Cameron met Joe Chaney and they both his a pair of 180s in the match so the bet landed comfortably. The third maximum came in the fifth leg of the contest so there was never any danger of it not coming in, which is just how we like the situation!

Preview

The night begins with Laura Turner looking to pick up her second win of the competition when she goes up against Thibault Tricole, who with a good night could really catapult himself deep into contention. Two men who really need big nights meet in the second match when Jim Williams takes on Richard Veenstra before Williams stays on to go up against Turner in a match which is pretty much must win territory for the Welshman.

The second half of the night will be mostly about Richard Veenstra and his quest for the wins which would move him into contention overall. He will firstly take on Tricole in what could actually end up being the game of the night. The Dutch star then takes on Turner in a match which is one he will not be able to afford any slip ups in. The night concludes with Tricole facing Williams in a clash which could have consequences for the Welshman were he to be unable to win it.

Betting

I’m not convinced we have got Jim Williams at his best in this competition and I’m prepared to take him on. The question is who best to do it with and I fancy that player is Thibault Tricole. Williams’ scoring has come in bursts so far in the event and his finishing has left plenty to be desired it has to be said. He hasn’t featured for the best part of a week so that is another concern and he has made it pretty clear that the whole shebang isn’t ideal and doesn’t really suit him whether this season or last.

Tricole has gone nicely about his business so far in this tournament and has picked up four wins from his six matches to date. His only defeat was to Justin Thompson and there isn’t a huge lot wrong with that. Already though he has wins over Tony O’Shea and John O’Shea and he has also held Paul Hogan to a 5-5 draw so his form is legit. I wouldn’t be at all surprised were the Frenchman to win this match but there is enough both in his results and his averages to suggest that he can keep close order with Williams. The 11/10 on Tricole with the 1.5 leg start, meaning we only need him to draw for us to win looks a sensible play.
