2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Friday 5th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

It is ladies night at the Remote Darts League on Friday as the four women conclude their campaigns with a round robin of sorts against each other, as we head towards the conclusion of this second season of the competition.

At times we have seen the women offer up some competitive play this term but this is the night where they can all showcase their talents and look to pick up some wins to take something out of their showing in the event.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Thursday Recap

Three men went into Thursday night knowing they needed big showings if they were to push for a spot in the semi-finals and as is so often the case when that happens they all took points off each other which means that none of them are going to be back for finals night on Monday. The night began with a surprise as Larry Butler beat David Cameron 6-3 before Thibault Tricole eased past Darren Herewini 6-1. The Kiwi then lost to Cameron by the same amount before Tricole and Butler played out an entertaining 5-5 draw. The Frenchman finished his campaign with a draw against Cameron before Butler saw off Herewini.

It was a second good night for us in a row betting wise as we took just the one bet which was for David Cameron to beat Darren Herewini and although the New Zealander won the opening leg that was as good as it got for him and he was soundly beaten, with the Canadian powering through to win the next six legs and complete a 6-1 win and give us a very resounding even money winner.

Preview

It is the night all four ladies have been waiting for and we get underway with the two international players on show when Stacey Pace goes up against Tina Osborne in what could be the best opportunity for both on the night. The second game of the evening looks to be the pick of the matches on show when Laura Turner meets Lorraine Winstanley in what should be the standout contest of the six we have on the schedule.

Turner then stays on looking to get the better of Pace before Winstanley concludes her tournament with successive matches. The first of those will come against Osborne and then she will meet Pace with the former Winmau World Masters winner expected to win both matches. The final match of the season involving the females sees Tina Osborne taking on Laura Turner with the English ace expected to end her campaign on a high.

Betting

I’m not getting too involved in this night of darts but it is almost impossible to ignore one bet which absolutely stands out across the course of the evening. There is the potential for all sorts of shenanigans to happen here with missed doubles and the like almost an absolute certainty but one game where logic and a bit of normality should be in keeping is the fourth one of the evening between Lorraine Winstanley and Tina Osborne.

We have seen absolutely nothing of Osborne in this tournament that would resemble her best darts or anything close to that. Even if we had done Winstanley would still have been expected to win this match. Her record shows her to be a far better player than her Kiwi opponent and although it took Lorraine an age to get comfortable with the setup and the quirky nature of the event, she has improved the longer it has gone on and the last night we saw her she was displaying the form we know she is capable of. Her last two averages were 79.33 and 83.38 which are high class in the women’s game. When you think Osborne is yet to average 70 in the tournament and on her last showing two of her averages were in the 50s there is enough of a gulf here to think Winstanley can win and do it no worse than 6-2.
