The second night of action in the new Remote Darts League season sees four more players getting their campaigns underway on Tuesday evening as another darts event continues to keep us entertained during lockdown.
We saw some excellent darts played on the first night of the tournament on Monday and if that has set the benchmark for what is to come then we should be in for plenty of competitive evenings over the next couple of weeks or so.
The Format
The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.
At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Night 1 Recap
It was a very good opening night of the tournament, although with the defending champion on show it was always likely to be that. James Richardson picked up where he left off in the first season of the Remote Darts League winning all three of his matches to move back to the top of the table. Richard Veenstra and Larry Butler picked up a win and a draw from their three matches while Tina Osborne had little to show for her night, although she improved as the night went on which bodes well for her.
It was a good first night of the tournament for us from a betting point of view as well. We placed our faith in James Richardson covering a 2.5 leg handicap in the final match of the night against Larry Butler and the champion duly delivered for us, coming through by a 6-2 score to get us up and running nicely ahead of the 20 evenings to come from here on in.

Preview
The beaten finalist of the first season is the main draw on night two of the second campaign of the Remote Darts League. That means we see ‘Crocodile Dundee’ himself, Paul Hogan, starting off his season, but we have to wait until match two to see him because it is the New Zealand player Darren Herewini, the WDF World Cup winner last year, and Laura Turner, quarter finalist in the Women’s World Championship, who open the show. Hogan then takes on the American hitman Joe Chaney before Chaney stays on to play Herewini.
Laura Turner and Paul Hogan dominate the second half of the night. They will meet in match four of the evening while Hogan than stays on to round off his work for his first evening of the season. He meets Darren Herewini in the clash that looks the standout one of the night. The action then concludes with the popular Turner meeting Chaney in a match the American will be pretty warm order for.
Betting
I’ve a feeling Joe Chaney has been a little underrated here and I’m going to take two bets in matches involving him. I say he’s underrated because he has been playing online darts in the Championship Darts Corporation online league and was actually in action in that on Monday night so he is going to be warmed up. In his match against Larry Butler last week he hit six 180s and has been scoring pretty well all the way through. That makes me think the 6/4 on him and Paul Hogan hitting more than 3.5 180s is a bet worth taking. A couple of 180s each and we get this covered. Hogan is a heavy scorer though and on a going night he could cover this total on his own but Chaney should contribute to the scoring so I like the over here.
Immediately after that Chaney stays on to face Darren Herewini and once again I think the American is being underrated. Chaney has the throw in the match and if there is one thing we have learnt in these online leagues it is how significant that can be. You can get the American at odds against on the draw no bet line and while Herewini has plenty of talent, if you look through the averages he has delivered in tournaments since he won the WDF World Cup last year there isn’t a lot to write home about. In events like PDC Q-School, Challenge Tour and the BDO World Championship, the Kiwi has been averaging high 70s and early 80s. This match looked much more even before we take into account Chaney’s recent activity. I’ll play him without the draw in play.
