The third set of matches in the Remote Darts League season get underway on Tuesday evening and they do so with an international flavour to them and with two of the current top three in the table heading into the night in action.
Everyone has played six matches in the league phase now and the table is beginning to take shape and those at the top will be looking to push on and secure their top four credentials, while those in the logjam outside are under pressure to deliver the goods. That should make for a decent night of arrers.
The Format
The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.
At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Monday Recap
We saw a decent night of darts on Monday, one which James Richardson once again showed his class in. He picked up a couple of wins and a draw from his three matches and registered a couple of 100+ averages in the process to lay down his credentials as the man to beat as he goes about attempting to defend his title. It was an acceptable night for Justin Thompson who came away with a draw and a win, as did David Cameron while Laura Turner suffered three defeats but she was more competitive than her results suggested.
It was a decent enough day for us betting wise too. We went with the one bet which came in safely enough. That was for over 3.5 180s in the match between David Cameron and James Richardson and even though Richardson won 6-0, he was so dominant that he hit the required four 180s himself. We didn’t need him to through as Cameron also filled the bed up twice so that punt was never in any danger.

Preview
The eyes will be on Paul Hogan and Justin Thompson, who occupy two of the top three places in the table heading into the night. As luck would have it they meet to start off proceedings so we get going with a pretty significant game. Larry Butler then has the chance to work his way into the evening when he takes on Stacey Pace. Pace then remains on the oche to face Hogan in a match which could see ‘Crocodile Dundee’ kick clear at the top of the table.
The second half of the night will be about Larry Butler and his bid to get himself right into the mix at the top when he firstly goes up against Justin Thompson before he faces Hogan in what could well end up being the best spectacle on the evening. The night when concludes with what could be something of a mismatch based of what we have seen in the tournament so far as Stacey Pace faces Justin Thompson.
Betting
I am finding matches with Justin Thompson in them a little difficult to bet on for a couple of reasons. One of those is that he is playing at the crack of dawn where he is and you can never quite be sure just what condition he is going to be in. The other reason is that from a 180 point of view his opponent never gets a rhythm so it is hard for them to play at their maximum. I am on him outright though so I have a natural interest in his games.
I’m not getting involved in any of the women’s matches either so the one to go at on Tuesday is the penultimate match of the night as Larry Butler goes up against Paul Hogan, a game in which both should get the nice rhythm they like and both are pretty heavy scorers. Butler has already hit four 180s in a match this season while only once has Hogan not hit two in a game. Whoever hits them I think we can reach four 180s before this one ends.
