2021 Grand Slam of Darts – Semi-Finals Tips and Betting Preview

It is the final day of the Grand Slam of Darts on Sunday with another big TV tournament winner being crowned on a day where the semi-finals and final take place with the winner having to win 32 legs to get their hands on the trophy.

We have four of the best in the world on show over the course of the day, one where the two semi-finals will be played in the afternoon before the final in the evening. Time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the final but we’ll have a look at the semi-finals here.

Gerwyn Price vs James Wade

The opening semi-final pits a man who has twice got his hands on this title in Gerwyn Price against a man who has done everything in this tournament except win the competition in James Wade in what could be a very spicy encounter.

Price kind of laboured his way through the initial stages of this tournament but he fired to life in the quarter final in defeating his good friend Jonny Clayton and now he’ll be looking for a decent Sunday to claim this title for the third time. Wade has twice done a job on Rob Cross in this tournament and he has also overcome Rowby-John Rodriguez as well but like in most Wade matches he has hung around and taken advantage of his opponents’ shortcomings in the main. Wade has won both matches between these two this year which will give him some confidence but I suspect that Price is coming to the boil at the right time. The Welshman is too short for a punt though so I’ll leave this opening game alone.

Peter Wright vs Michael Smith

The second semi-final sees two men who have surprisingly never won this tournament battling it out for a place in the final when Peter Wright takes on Michael Smith in what should be a pulsating battle between two very watchable players.

Wright saw off the exceptional challenge of Fallon Sherrock in the quarter final on Saturday evening while Smith overcame Michael van Gerwen in pretty confident and ruthless fashion so both will be feeling good about their game I think it is fair to say. The foundation for the quarter final wins of both men was their scoring and I’m going to target that for a bet in this contest. They both ploughed in 14 180s in their wins on Saturday night and Wright in particular has become something of a 180 machine in recent times. Smith has never lacked for scoring power either so in a match where I don’t see either player running away with things, I like over 19.5 180s in this one.

Tips

Back P.Wright vs M.Smith – Over 19.5 180s for a 3/10 stake at 2.00 with Coral
