We have had to wait an extra day for the latest Ram Slam T20 double header but they say good things come to those who wait and on Saturday four sides will continue to entertain us in the shortest format of the game.
For the Dolphins and the Warriors Saturday is a crucial day in the tournament. The Dolphins begin the day when they take on the only side already out of the tournament in the form of the Knights before the Warriors look to get back among the playoff picture when they face the leaders Titans. Both matches take place in Port Elizabeth.
It may just be a coincidence but since Kevin Pietersen left the Dolphins their form has nosedived. They have now lost their last three completed matches in the tournament and need one more win to be certain of their place in the playoffs. This might be their best chance of that.
The Knights finally won a match last time out when they took care of the Lions and although they are unable to qualify for the latter stages of the event now that win at least shows they are still giving it their all and they may yet spoil another party before the competition ends.
Any side that has Andre Russell in their ranks is a dangerous proposition at the best of times let alone when they are playing with freedom. The Dolphins have sounded the panic sirens and have made three key changes to their squad for this match. Their batting output has diminished and their bowling has weakened and that isn’t a good combination so the Knights are worth a punt here.
The Titans can confirm all but confirm top spot with a big win in their match against the Warriors in the second game of the day. This is the Warriors’ game in hand on those sides above them and a win would catapult them right into the mix but a defeat would leave their knockout hopes hanging by a thread.
It would be foolish to take on the Titans at the minute. They look a really strong outfit and it is hard to find a weakness in their game. They might drop a game soon because although momentum is a big thing in this format of the game the longer a winning run goes on the more pressure comes with it.
That said I don’t think it will be here but the leaders are a little too short for me to get involved on them in what is still an unpredictable format so I’ll stick with a bet on the Knights as my betting interest on Saturday.
