The end of the Skybet League 2 season is fast approaching and while we now know the three sides who will be automatically promoted to League 1 when the campaign is done there is this crazy battle for the four playoff places and an intriguing relegation to be decided.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Blackpool v Cheltenham Town
Colchester United v Plymouth Argyle
Crawley Town v Carlisle United
Crewe Alexandra v Leyton Orient
Exeter City v Morecambe
Grimsby Town v Yeovil Town
Hartlepool United v Barnet
Luton Town v Notts County
Newport County v Accrington Stanley
Portsmouth v Cambridge United
Stevenage v Mansfield Town
Wycombe Wanderers v Doncaster Rovers
Big Matches
With the automatic promotion places now determined the attention turns to the playoff spots which would make Luton’s clash with Notts County one of the biggest matches in the division. Stevenage host playoff rivals Mansfield at the Lamex while Blackpool and Exeter will look to enhance their own playoff chances when they host Cheltenham and Morecambe respectively.
Best of the Rest
The battle for the title is still ongoing. Doncaster carry a three point lead to Wycombe with them while Plymouth will be looking to keep up the chase when they head to Colchester. Accrington head to Newport in a match with meaning at both ends of the table while Hartlepool have a must win match with Barnet.

Betting
I’m going with two in this division on Saturday. I’m going to back Hartlepool to pick up a much needed three points against a Barnet side who aren’t up to much on their travels at the minute. Barnet have lost their last four away games and only scored one goal in that time and while Hartlepool’s recent home form hasn’t been fantastic they have played sides at the top of the table. Hartlepool’s need for a win is huge here and I think they’ll be giving it their all. It wasn’t so long ago they thrashed Exeter and Crewe at home and I’m hoping they can see off Barnet too.
Stevenage were the form side in the league heading into April but as is so often the case they have found maintaining their form tough and I think they could be ripe for the taking by Mansfield on Saturday. Mansfield won at another awkward place in Wycombe on Good Friday and Steve Evans’ side looked a confident unit against Luton on Monday. Man for man they match up well to Stevenage and with Stevenage’s form just tailing off and the injury to Matt Godden hurting them I’ll side with the Stags in this one.
