We have a couple of bonus midweek matches in the Premier League this week with the first of them taking place on Tuesday evening when Brighton & Hove Albion host Tottenham Hotspur at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton go into the match needing probably one more win to guarantee their safety although it might be that they have enough already given how poor the bottom three are. A strong end to the season could yet see Spurs finish second.

Brighton & Hove Albion
The Seagulls head into this match without a win in their last four matches which probably could not have come at a worse time but on 35pts one more win should see them safe even though there is this myth that 40pts is the magical number. You would have to point out that Chris Hughton’s men have a tough run in but they should still be fine.
The one thing they are going to need to do if they are to make sure they stay up is defend a whole lot better than they have been doing. They were rotten defensively at Crystal Palace at the weekend although they can rightly point out that they looked dangerous in attack. Brighton are still looking for their first league clean sheet in 2018.
Tottenham Hotspur
A run of seven wins in eight Premier League matches was ended by the champions Manchester City on Saturday but I don’t think we should hold that against the Londoners. Few have been able to contain the City juggernaut this season. To be fair even in that match Spurs had City on the ropes at times which will give them some confidence.
Tottenham always come good at this time of the year but it remains to be seen whether their entire focus is on this match or whether they will have more than half an eye on their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon. Tottenham were convincing winners when these two met at Wembley earlier in the season and they will move level on points with Liverpool in third if they win here.
Team News
Brighton will continue to be without midfielder Davy Propper as he continues to serve a suspension for a recent red card. Steve Sidwell and Izzy Brown remain on the sidelines with their long-term injuries.
All eyes will be on the Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and his team sheet to see whether he makes changes ahead of the semi-final on Sunday. Pochettino has confirmed that Toby Alderweireld will be in the squad while Fernando Llorente should be too after he missed Saturday’s defeat.

Betting
If I was certain Tottenham were going to field their strongest XI and be bang up for this one then I would probably have no hesitation in backing them on the Asian Handicap but there have to be some doubts over that with the semi-final coming up so I don’t really want to bet on the match outcome.
If Pochettino does make a change though then this could be the right time to back Son Heung-Min to find the back of the net at some point in the contest. He scored when the two sides met at Wembley earlier in the season and based on the way Brighton defended against Zaha on Saturday if the Korean does play you wouldn’t think he will go short of chances. At 9/5 he looks a fair price to bag a goal at some point.
