It is the final day of action in the International Darts Open on Sunday with the last 16 right the way through to the conclusion of the competition being played over the course of the two sessions out in Riesa.
There were big shocks and big name winners in the last 32 on Saturday which gives the remainder of the event an even more open look heading into the last 16. We can preview that round but time restrictions will deny us the chance of previewing any more but with Joe Cullen still in the event hopefully we’ll have some evening interest.
First Four Matches
Ian White gets the afternoon up and running as he continues his bid for back-to-back titles. He goes up against James Richardson before two men who came through deciding legs on Saturday meet when Simon Whitlock takes on Steve Beaton. Our outright pick Joe Cullen is third on stage against Darren Webster and then Mensur Suljovic leads us into the break when he goes head-to-head with Danny Noppert.
Later Four Matches
The better of the afternoon session comes after the break and the action will resume with Jonny Clayton taking on Steve West before the pick of the last 16 matches takes to the stage. That sees Adrian Lewis going up against Stephen Bunting. The penultimate match of the afternoon sees Daryl Gurney facing Peter Wright and the action concludes with Ryan Searle playing the only home man left in the event in Martin Schindler.

Betting
There is just the one bet for me on Sunday and it comes in the form of Steve West who was quite brilliant in dismissing Mervyn King on Saturday and who I think has the beating of Jonny Clayton on Sunday too. Clayton was made to work very hard by Steve Lennon on Saturday but I think this is a step up on him for the Welshman.
West might have a back injury but it certainly didn’t hamper him on Saturday. He is having a good year in the European Tour events and generally comes good at this time of the year. He averaged 111.29 in dismissing King on Saturday and if he’s even within 10pts of that here he’ll be tough to beat at even money.
