The Sunday Night Football this week is a Texan derby as the Houston Texans play host to the Dallas Cowboys in a match which features two sides who could really do with the win in front of the primetime cameras.
We see two of the best young quarterbacks in the business in operation in this match and it will be interesting to see which one can back up last gasp victories last week. Both have seen their divisional rivals struggle already this week so a win could be huge.
Houston Texans
They had to do it the hard way last week but Houston Texans got the job done in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts to get off the mark for the season. They will want to build on that here and if they do find the win they will only be one victory off of matching the record of the Jacksonville Jaguars who lead the division.
There hasn’t been a whole lot wrong with the Texans on the offensive side of things but when the New York Giants put up 27pts on your defence and the Colts put up 34 you know you have an issue there. That is a surprise because they have some of the best pass rushers in the game on their defence but if they don’t get to the quarterback they are getting burned.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys won last week but it was no easier than the win for the Texans in truth. They had to come from double digits down to see off the Detroit Lions with the final play field goal and while the positive is that they showed good character to win the match the negative is that they got into that position in the first place against a poor looking Detroit team.
The best thing for the Dallas Cowboys last week was the fact that their offense was nicely balanced. They got their ground game established and when they need to make big plays in the air they were able to do that. That should set them up nicely here as they have a strong record the week after pounding it on the ground.

Betting
This feels like a close match to me but the struggles the Houston Texans had at putting the Indianapolis Colts away is a concern to me. Conceding 34pts to them is very much a worry and as such I think I’ll side with the Dallas Cowboys in this match.
The fact that the Cowboys were able to get their ground game going last week is very much a positive and I can’t get away from the fact that the Texans are 0-4 the week after they won a tight match since Bill O’Brien took charge of them. That said I do think this will be tight so I think I would rather have the 3.5pts on my side in case this is settled by a late field goal in the wrong direction.
