There is a double header of action on Saturday as the regular season of the Big Bash League draws towards a conclusion and the opening match sees the last two champions meeting in Adelaide as the Adelaide Strikers take on the Perth Scorchers.
These two sides have been used to battling for the title in recent times but the only thing at stake in their meeting here is the Wooden Spoon, which will go to the team that loses this match. Both teams end their campaign here.

Adelaide Strikers
If you was doing an award for the most disappointing side in the competition then the Adelaide Strikers would be bang in the mix for it. Given that they won the title so readily last year and only really had to do without Travis Head from that side they have been complete disappointments with just five wins to their name and absolutely zero consistency.
As with so many teams in this competition it has been a case of struggling with the bat for the most part. They have been struggling too often in that department of late and as such they have lost five of their last six matches, which has seen them slump to second bottom in the table and already out of the tournament with a match to go.
Perth Scorchers
I don’t think the Perth Scorchers would be too far behind on the disappointment scale although to be fair they did have a change of coach and a whole raft of international call ups to deal with. Even then, you wouldn’t expect them to be bottom of the table and needing to win their final match of the campaign to avoid finishing last of the pile.
Much like the Adelaide Strikers, Perth have struggled with the bat all too often this season. They haven’t usually had to rely on runs on the board but the change of ground has taken some adjusting to for their bowlers and it has largely been a complete crash of a season as a result. A win here wouldn’t do much for them but nobody wants to finish bottom of the table.
Team News
Travis Head and Billy Stanlake come back into the Strikers side for their final match of the season. They come into the squad for Colin Ingram, who has departed for home early, and Jake Lehmann whose form has not been good enough all season.
Perth Scorchers have included former Hampshire opener Sean Terry in their side. He has been playing grade cricket in Australia and could get his Big Bash League debut in this final match of the campaign.

Betting
This isn’t the easiest match to bet on because neither of them have been particularly consistent this season and both have decided to bring a youngster or two into their squad but even with Travis Head around the Adelaide Strikers look incredibly light with the bat to me and as such the value should be on the Perth Scorchers at odds against.
When these two teams met in Perth, the Scorchers skittled Adelaide for just 88 and polished them off no problem at all. The Strikers have certainly got no better with the bat since then so I think the odds against on the Scorchers is a bet that is probably justifiable in taking. They have enough with the bat and the ball to get it done here.
