You know that advert on the TV where everything good that can possibly happen does and it ends with ‘if Carlsberg did Saturday’s’? Well we had exactly that on Sunday with two incredible returns on the same day!
With a couple of previews for some of Sunday’s action to write up first thing, it was an early start for us on Sunday. When we hit the sack on Saturday, our one live chance in the Oman Open golf, Kurt Kitayama, looked to have bombed out of contention having dropped six shots in the first three holes of his third round to fall eight adrift.

We’re nothing if not optimistic though so on waking on Sunday the natural tendency was to log onto the European Tour website to see who was leading the final round. To our amazement good ol’ Kurt had flown home like a train in the third round, begun the last round strongly and was one off the lead with 14 holes to play!
After wolfing down a couple of slices of toast, the laptop was on to write the outstanding previews with Sky Sports Golf on in the background ready for a nervy morning.
As the final round went on, slowly but surely, one by one the leaders began to falter and Kitayama was getting stronger, and then on the 17th hole he holed a birdie putt and Max Kieffer made bogey to send our 200/1 poke up the last one clear. He played a flawless final hole to win by one, and have an incredible day of sport with the UK Open darts, THREE Premier League matches, the conclusion of the Indian Open snooker, an ODI and a couple of MLS matches, off to a cracking start.

The intention once the previews were up was always to crack open a couple of cans and enjoy the sport. After the golf was done, with the football on TV, it was time to whack the darts on the iPad where 125/1 pick Nathan Aspinall was a win over Ross Smith away from securing place money in a tournament where Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright, Daryl Gurney and many others had long since bit the dust.
Aspinall won 10-6 to guarantee another decent sum from the place part of that bet, and would draw Gerwyn Price, the form man, in the semi-final in the evening. To be fair at 125/1 he’d done his job for us but luckily he didn’t stop there. He saw off Price 11-9 to set up a final with Rob Cross.
Those who follow our bets will know rarely do they win easily, so I was expecting a tense hour or so as the final played out, but to our delight Aspinall was far too good for the former world champ to land a second three figure priced winner in the space of 10hrs!

Regular followers will know we back winners all the time, with plenty of returns on outright bets on all the sports we cover, but very rarely do we get three figure winners let alone two in the same day!
This truly was a ‘Carlsberg’ Sunday, but thankfully for us at 200/1 and 125/1 we could afford to celebrate with something a little stronger than a pint of the Danish brew!
