The Super League weekend continues on Friday night when six more teams are in action across the three matches on show on the evening as events at the top and the bottom of the table begin to take a little more shape.
One of the three matches are live on TV for those of us in the UK. That comes from the DW Stadium but there are all sorts of ways to keep up with the other two. We’ll kick off the preview with the TV game.
Wigan Warriors vs Huddersfield Giants
Two sides who have stumbled out of the starting gate this season meet at the DW Stadium when the Wigan Warriors host the Huddersfield Giants in a clash between two sides who have one win from eight matches between them so far.
You could excuse Wigan a slow start to the season. They have a new coach, a new spine to their side and probably had more than half an eye on the World Club Challenge but any sympathy they had disappeared when they lost to the London Broncos last week. Huddersfield Giants look like a side who need a win quickly. They slumped at the end of last season and have begun this one badly too and so their need for a win is desperate.
I’m not sure whether Huddersfield will win this match. The likelihood is that they won’t but they are getting a 16pt handicap here which looks a little big against a fragile Wigan team. That feels a few points too many.
Hull FC vs Leeds Rhinos
There is a Yorkshire derby away from the cameras when a resurgent Hull FC side take on a Leeds Rhinos team who are hard to work out at the minute at the KCOM Stadium in a match where the points will be valuable to both sides.
Hull FC have won their last two matches and look to be on something of an upward curve whereas the Rhinos were surprisingly beaten by Wakefield Trinity last week. It is hard to know where Leeds are right now and given their inconsistency I can’t really be getting involved in their matches although the Hull FC handicap is small enough that it is tempting.

St Helens vs London Broncos
The other match on Friday evening sees the title chasing St Helens taking on a London Broncos side for whom avoiding relegation this term would be perfectly acceptable. Saints go into the match as the overwhelming favourites with their 100% record but as Wigan found out last week they would do well not to underestimate the Broncos.
St Helens are being asked to overcome a massive handicap and given the tricky conditions forecast for the match I can’t bring myself to back them but at the same time there is always the chance that London implode themselves. It is better to watch on here rather than invest in something which the margins are quite small.
