We had a very entertaining opening round of matches in the new MLS season and the second set of fixtures take place over the course of the weekend as the competition begins to take shape in its early stages.
Seven matches get us going in the second round of games with matches taking place in both conferences right through the evening. One of the matches is live on Sky in the UK and then there are the various streams to watch the other games.

Big Matches
The TV match on Saturday evening is the first one which sees the Chicago Fire going up against Orlando City in an Eastern Conference match. Both sides played well last week but couldn’t quite get the job done and will be eager for a first win here. The other big match sees the Los Angeles Galaxy going to Texas to take on FC Dallas looking to build on their good win in their opening match of the season.
Best of the Rest
Seattle Sounders and Minnesota United will also look to build on opening week wins. The Sounders host the Colorado Rapids and Minnesota head to San Jose Earthquakes in a couple of all-Western Conference clashes. There is one other Eastern Conference battle on the card which sees the New England Revolution taking on the Columbus Crew. The other two matches see Houston Dynamo playing Montreal Impact and Real Salt Lake going up against Vancouver Whitecaps.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the afternoon and into the early hours. The first one actually comes in the TV match as the Chicago Fire take on the Orlando City and I’m expecting to see goals in that match. Both sides showed a frailty in defence last week and both have attacks that can exploit that so this could easily turn into one of those crazy games that Orlando are becoming regular competitors in. I sense Chicago are up for the task this season a lot more as well and over 2.75 goals looks a really good thing here.
I’ve been very keen on Minnesota United heading into the campaign and they served me well last week so I see no reason to desert them now. I really do expect a big season from the Loons and that can continue with a win, or a result at the very least, at the San Jose Earthquakes. Many sides have improved going into this season and Minnesota are definitely one of them. I’m not convinced that San Jose have kicked on though so I fancy Minnesota to get something here.
