The second round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells concludes on Sunday night with the bottom half of the draw playing down to the last 32 stage. We have seen some compelling tennis so far in this tournament and should be set for more of it here.
The world numbers two and four take centre stage on Sunday evening when Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal get their campaigns underway but there are plenty of other big names on show over the course of the night.

Stadium 1
After a women’s match opens up the show it will be the turn of Roger Federer to take to the court when he faces the German big server Peter Gojowczyk for a place in the third round of the tournament. They are followed by the big women’s match of the day before the second and final men’s match takes place. That sees the American wildcard Jared Donaldson taking on Rafael Nadal for a place in the next round.
Stadium 2
Kei Nishikori is first on the second court on Sunday when he goes up against Adrian Mannarino to kick things off and then once a women’s match has come and gone the number eight seed John Isner will begin his campaign. He defends in Miami next week so needs big points this month. He faces the qualifier from Australia in the form of Alexei Popyrin in the only other men’s match on this court.
Stadium 3
The women get the third court underway but once they have done so there are a trio of men’s matches on the card with Marin Cilic the first in action. He faces Dusan Lajovic and then comes what looks like being the closest match of the night when Denis Shapovalov takes on Steve Johnson. The final men’s match on this court should be a good one too when Marton Fucsovics goes up against the former finalist Stan Wawrinka.
Best of the Rest
The outside courts will be full once again and it could turn into the Russian show with both Daniil Medvedev and Karen Khachanov taking to the courts. Andrey Rublev is another Russian player in action while deeper out in the extremities David Goffin, Diego Schwartzman, Fabio Fognini and Lucas Pouille will all be looking to entertain the crowds.

Betting
There is one bet I like the look of on the card over the course of the night and it actually comes fairly late on when Guido Pella takes on the qualifier Alex Bolt. To be fair to Bolt he has done pretty well to make it this far although Ernests Gulbis was very poor in the first round. The Australian just looks very limited to me I have to say.
The same cannot be said of Pella. He should be arriving in Indian Wells full of confidence after a win in Sao Paulo just last week and that was his second final of the year so he has been playing good tennis. That has been on the clay but these conditions aren’t as quick as they once were so I don’t expect the Argentine to be inconvenienced in any way. I’m a little surprised he’s only giving up 2.5 games but I’m happy to take him to cover that.
