The last 16 of the ATP Miami Open concludes and the first two quarter finals will be played out at the Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday as the tournament looks to get back on track after the rain on Tuesday night.
The schedule was hampered to the extent that Roger Federer couldn’t play his last 16 contest so that is a bonus for day session ticket holders on Wednesday. He headlines the tournament now after Novak Djokovic was knocked out on Tuesday.
Day Session
Daniil Medvedev vs Roger Federer
Kevin Anderson awaits the winner of the one last 16 match to be completed in the quarter final on Thursday as Daniil Medvedev and Roger Federer go at it inside the main stadium at the Hard Rock Stadium where both men will see the glorious opportunity that is in front of them.
These two have met twice in the past and Federer has won both of their matches and I would expect him to win this one too but Medvedev can make him work hard for it in these slow conditions where the ball is clearly not going through the court. That said the Russian might have had a better chance in the cooler night session on Tuesday. Either way I’m happy to sit this one out.
Roberto Bautista Agut vs John Isner
The giant killer takes on the defending champion as Roberto Bautista Agut, conqueror of Novak Djokovic on Tuesday, faces John Isner for a place in the semi-final where whoever wins this match will be the favourite to reach the final.
These two have faced each other on three occasions and all three matches have gone to a deciding set and I would be quite surprised if this one doesn’t head that way as well. Isner is really digging in this week and winning when not always at his best while Bautista Agut has been hard to beat all season.
With that in mind I’m expecting a lengthy quarter final here and so I’m happy to be on over 25.5 games. All three of their matches have sailed over this line so far and with service breaks likely to be at a premium I’m happy that this line is on the low side.

Night Session
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Borna Coric
Two young guns do battle in the night session quarter final as the Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime goes up against a Borna Coric who is coming into form at the right time this week. The winner will progress to face either RBA or Isner in the semi-final on Friday.
This is the first meeting between these two men but it is a match that I expect the better shot making skills of Coric to enjoy. FA-A has played very well to get to this stage but he rode his luck a little in the previous round and the cooler night time air is unlikely to be to his advantage as he is all power.
I’m with the Croatian here. He is more experienced at this level of a big tournament and should enjoy the conditions a lot more than his Canadian opponent. I’m sure Auger-Aliassime will get to the top eventually but Coric can deny him progressing here.
