It is another big day in the Premier League on Saturday as events at both ends of the table come back under the microscope in what always looked to be an important weekend in the division from a long way out.
There are a couple of matches which could really make the relegation picture change shape while the race for the top four and the Champions League next season also claims some of the spotlight. Three kick off times cover the six matches.

Early Kick Off
The action gets underway at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Spurs play host to already relegated Huddersfield Town. You would think the Terriers are ripe for a spanking here but whether Tottenham look to carry that out or preserve some energy for Wednesday’s huge Champions League second leg remains to be seen. I guess it’ll be a bit of both but the bottom line is Tottenham need to win to stay in control of their top four destiny. Huddersfield have a free shot at this one.
3pm Matches
There are a couple of massive games in the relegation picture in among the 3pm matches. The biggest of the lot comes at Turf Moor where troubled Burnley host the side in the bottom three at the start of play in Cardiff City. That is huge for the visitors. The other big one comes from St Mary’s Stadium where Southampton will look to pull further away from the drop when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Two other matches take place at 3pm. Brighton could do with another couple of wins to secure their status for next season. They host a Bournemouth team who are so inconsistent it is untrue. The other match in the usual kick off time is the only one with little riding on it as relegated Fulham take on Everton at Craven Cottage
Late Game
The action concludes at Old Trafford where Manchester United will continue their push for the top four when they play host to West Ham United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men head to Barcelona for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final in midweek so who knows what team he will select here. Who also knows what West Ham will turn up? I’m not convinced even they have a clue until they are on the pitch so we’ve little chance.

Betting
I’ll go with two bets on Saturday. Given the importance of the match between Burnley and Cardiff City and the situations both are in the first goal is going to have a dramatic effect on this match. Whoever concedes it will have to come out and take some risks because a draw isn’t the best result for either and defeat could be catastrophic. Both teams will know the danger they are in and should have targeted this as a match they can win and ease that concern. That should see both showing a winning intent which makes over 2.25 goals an attractive bet.
Much has been made of Wolverhampton Wanderers this season and how they are poor against the lower sides but despite that I’m not having them as outsiders against Southampton. There is a bit of guessing involved over how Wolves will react to losing the cup semi-final last week but that should have added to their determination to try and push for seventh spot. I think they set up well for Southampton. They deny space and they pounce on the counter, much as we saw Liverpool do to good effect at St Mary’s last week. Wolves know and will have heard all the comments about their form against lower sides so they have a chance to silence their critics here, a chance I expect them to take.
