The second half of the double header in the Indian Premier League on Sunday sees the event back in Hyderabad where the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Capitals battle it out for what would be an important two points for each side.
There has been good stuff mixed in with indifferent things for both these teams so far this season so they will both be striving for a couple of weeks of consistency to give themselves the required boost to make the postseason.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Over the last couple of seasons we have been accustomed to seeing the Sunrisers Hyderabad blazing a trail towards the top of the Indian Premier League. They have never had a completely daunting batting line up but their bowling attack has often been the envy of the world. This season though, those bowlers haven’t lived up to the billing and there has been nothing in the middle order should the openers fail.
That means they go into this match off the back of successive defeats which is a run they are going to need to end quickly if they are going to remain in contention for a spot at the end of season party. They need to find a way to get their middle order firing as teams know they just have to hang in the game against them. How they are going to do that remains to be seen.
Delhi Capitals
Although their record doesn’t necessarily suggest it, the Delhi Capitals have been one of the teams of the season so far. They might only be 4-3 for the campaign, but they have thrown one match away from an unassailable position and were competitive in another which they went down in, so it would not have taken much more for the Capitals to be 6-1 and tied for the lead, so they shouldn’t be underestimated.
Delhi were my fancy going into the season and that hasn’t changed. They look to have sorted out their issues of collapsing with two good run chases in their last two matches. The fact that their key Indian batsmen have hit form will certainly not have done their chances any harm as they have a very strong bowling attack, led by the exceptionally good Kagiso Rabada.
Team News
Somehow Sunrisers need to get some momentum into their middle order. Whether that is to send someone up the order to have a dip and take the pressure off remains to be seen. Kane Williamson is pushing to come in but there might not be a spot for him.
Delhi Capitals have no need to change their side after successive wins. They haven’t made much use of Rahul Tewatia thus far but this bigger ground could see him come to the party here. Unless they bring in the extra seamer I expect Delhi to be unchanged.

Betting
Form and confidence are a big thing in these franchise leagues and that is certainly with the Delhi Capitals and that is where my money is going too. If Sunrisers Hyderabad had just been unlucky or run into a train or something like that it might be different but they are where they are because of the deficiencies that they have in their middle order and a couple of bowlers not performing.
The only problem Delhi have had this season is not taking responsibility with the bat but with three of their top four all making big runs recently and a couple of crackerjacks ready to perform either side of them I see Delhi going from strength to strength now. Delhi exposed this Sunrisers middle order in the reverse meeting but took too long to break the opening partnership with the few runs on the board they had. An extra few runs and an earlier wicket and Delhi can turn the tables here.
