The last session of action before the break for Christmas takes place on Monday night at the PDC World Darts Championship, as three more places in the last 16 of the competition are up for grabs inside the Alexandra Palace.
We’ve already seen some big names progress through to the next round and on Monday evening the likes of Dave Chisnall, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will be looking to join them when they take to the oche once again.
Dave Chisnall vs Jeffrey de Zwaan
The opening match on the card on Monday night has all the potential to be one of the matches of the tournament as the experienced Dave Chisnall takes on the talented and extremely dangerous Jeffrey de Zwaan for a place in the last 16 of the competition.
Chisnall saw off the challenge of Vincent van der Voort in his opener while de Zwaan took care of Darin Young in a match which won as convincingly as he was expected to do but you sense both men will need more than what they showed then to come out on top here. They should both enjoy the pace of the game and with styles making matches these two should combine for something quite special.
It would be silly of us not to expect to see some 180s in this match. These are two of the heavier hitters of them in the game and so in a match that should be pretty tight if not in the overall scoreline then within the sets, it makes sense for 180s to flow naturally, especially as they both play at a nice pace. The line is 15.5 but the way these two score I’m not sure that is high enough.

Adrian Lewis vs Darren Webster
Gary Anderson vs Ryan Searle
After what seems like an eternity since he played his second round match, Gary Anderson is on stage for the second time in the tournament in the middle match of the session when he goes up against Ryan Searle who is looking to emulate his heroics of his run here last year.
Anderson looked like he was coming back to his better form in his second round match against Brendan Dolan but it was so long ago that he could be forgiven for thinking that he is in another tournament here. Searle played nicely in beating Steve West on Saturday afternoon and he has shown he has plenty of scoring power under his belt. He doesn’t have the best of records against Anderson but to be fair his previous five meetings have been when Anderson has been fully up to speed. I expect the Scot to win this and if he’s on it he’ll win well but given how long a break he’s had between drinks I’ll let him come through if he is good enough.

Luke Woodhouse vs Dimitri Van den Bergh
Peter Wright vs Seigo Asada
The final match before Christmas fittingly sees a man who has dressed as Santa and an elf in his last two appearances on this stage in the form of Peter Wright in action when he will doubtless be dressed as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to take on the Japanese star Seigo Asada who is in uncharted territory now.
Wright might be getting sick of playing Asian players after he was taken the distance by Noel Malicdem in one of the matches of the tournament in the previous rounds, but I don’t see Asada pushing him so close I have to admit. Asada has done well to get this far but Mickey Mansell didn’t turn up and Keegan Brown lost the plot halfway through his match against the man from Japan. I believe Asada’s averages around the 92 mark have flattered him but even if they don’t he’ll need better here. Wright has had his scare. I expect him to kick on and win this comfortably.
