We are two nights down in the Remote Darts League so the table is beginning to take shape, which means that all 10 men will be eager for a victory when they compete for a third time in the event on Monday evening.
There was an improvement in the overall standard on Sunday night with plenty of matches going the distance and that could well be a trend which continues with players beginning to shake off the rust of the downtime during lockdown.
The Format
If you are a fan of the Premier League Darts event that the PDC hold each year this format will be familiar to you as it is very similar to that. The 10 men face each other once over the first nine evenings of the competition with the top four in the league table progressing to finals night in the 10th evening. The winner of the semi-finals and final is crowned the champion. Each match in the league phase is the best of 12 legs and players get two points for a win and one for a draw. The whole event will be shown live on the Remote Darts League channel on YouTube.

Night Two Recap
It was a good night of action on Sunday night which got underway with a second straight win for the tournament favourite Jim Williams. He eased past Gary Robson whose end of leg play let him down a little bit. Tony O’Shea then edged out his good friend Darryl Fitton 7-5 after trailing 5-3 before Paul Hogan and James Richardson drew 6-6 in the best match of the night. There were closing wins for Alan Norris over John Walton and Wes Newton against Dean Winstanley.
It wasn’t just a good night of action, it was a good night of betting for us too with both bets landing, albeit with some biting of nails needed along the way! O’Shea came through against Fitton although at 6-5 up we were assured of a refund at the very least. Winstanley got back to 5-5 against Newton but thankfully the Warrior came through to maintain our 100% start to betting on this tournament.
Fixtures

Preview
It is another competitive looking night of action on Monday evening, which gets underway with a Roses clash between Wes Newton and John Walton, with the latter in need of a win. Two men go in search of their first win of the season in the second match when Dean Winstanley takes on Paul Hogan before arguably the two best scorers in the competition collide in match three when Alan Norris takes on Darryl Fitton.
It could be that the best two matches have been saved until last on the third evening of the competition. The penultimate game of the night sees James Richardson looking to continue his unbeaten start to the event when he takes on Gary Robson, before the only man with a 100% record, Jim Williams, faces another undefeated player in Tony O’Shea to round off the night.
Betting
I’ll go for a couple of bets over the course of the third night of action and I’ll begin with the match between Alan Norris and Darryl Fitton. I’m not going to predict the winner here because actually these two players are pretty well matched, but one area they are not similar in is their finishing and I expect Norris to have more than a slight edge in that department so the 5/6 on Norris having the highest checkout appeals to me. Fitton won five legs on Sunday night but there were no checkouts to speak of whereas Norris had finishes of 100, 110 and 124 and if he can nail something in that range here that should be enough. Norris is a renowned combination finisher so that 5/6 is a bit big.
The other bet I like on night three of the competition is for James Richardson to beat Gary Robson. Robson has been middle of the road for me so far this week and while he may well get better I still expect Richardson to show that he is the better player here. Robson has a win to his name but it came against a Dean Winstanley who was there for the taking. I think the win over Alan Norris and draw against Paul Hogan that James Richardson has achieved has more merit and substance to it. Richardson averaged over 95 in that draw with Hogan and if he’s around that again you’ve got to think he’ll have too much for Robson who is struggling to close legs out.
