We hit the halfway mark in the Icons of Darts for the week on Wednesday and we should be in for another excellent day of darts as the players from Monday take to their streams and home oches once again, to keep us entertained.
We have seen a very good standard in the two groups so far with plenty of exciting and high quality matches and lots of interest throughout both days. It would be a big surprise if we do not get more of the same on Wednesday.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday six players will battle it out for a daily title. There are two pools of players, one which plays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other which toe the oche on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the six players will play each other once over the best of nine legs with two points for a win. The daily winner is the player with the most points. If players are level on points it is determined on leg difference and then the record between the two. The entire event can be watched on various bookmaker websites, dartshop.tv or the Modus YouTube channel.

Tuesday Recap
My hunch going into Tuesday was that David Evans was the class act in the field and that was how it proved as he ran out the winner of the group with four wins from his five matches. Stephen Burton and Scott Mitchell were his closest challengers. They both left the day with three wins from their games while there were a couple of wins for Mark Webster and Mike Warburton. It was not the day that Paul Nicholson wanted however. He could only manage a single win.
We went into the day with two bets and they both won which was needed after that mess of last week, which we can put behind us now. The first bet was for Stephen Burton to see off Mike Warburton and he delivered one of his best performances of the Icons of Darts to date to do that, coming out on top 5-1. The next bet was for David Evans to cover a 1.5 leg handicap against Mark Webster and despite being broken for 1-1, that was never in doubt as Evans powered to a 5-1 win too.
Wednesday Line Up
We are back with the Monday players on Wednesday which means that David Evans plays for a third time in a row. This is his final day of the week so he will be looking to go out with a second group win in succession. He won’t have it easy though because as we highlighted on Monday, this is one of the best put together groups we have seen in this competition. Martin Adams is probably the headliner of the group but Ritchie Edhouse is extremely well thought of as well.
None of them picked up the group win on Monday though. That honour fell to Andy Jenkins who will go in search of a third successive group victory here after he also landed top honours on Saturday. He’ll have it tough though because Jarred Cole looks to be rounding into form again after a dry spell in the previous format. The other player in the group is Fallon Sherrock and you only have to look back to Friday for what she is capable of producing.

Outright Betting
I was reluctant to get involved in this group on Monday and the same is probably the case here too I have to admit. I said on Monday that you can make a case for anyone winning this group and I think that remains the case on Wednesday as well. There isn’t really much value on the top three, especially as my gut instinct is that David Evans will win the group, although if Martin Adams was to be at his very best the 3/1 on him has some juice in it.
As for the outsiders I think there are worse bets than the 12/1 on Jarred Cole winning the group and it might be that I regret not getting involved in that. Given that he has won his last two groups we should flag Andy Jenkins up as a decent price at 6/1 although we have seen a few times that three in a row can be quite elusive. You shouldn’t rule out Fallon Sherrock but I do think she is the outsider in this group. I can’t be confident about the winner though so I’ll keep my powder dry.
Match Betting
I will go with one in the match betting however. That comes in the match between Fallon Sherrock and Jarred Cole and I think the male player can come out on top in this one for the second time in the week. He put in a very good performance against Sherrock earlier in the week and I see no reason why he won’t build on that. Cole had lost his scoring a couple of weeks ago but he appears to have found it over the last week or so and that is a huge thing for him.
Cole won 5-1 on Monday but was still only 5/13 on his doubles so there is a little improvement to come from him. Sherrock didn’t play badly by any stretch of the imagination with a 94.46 average but she just got blown away by some brutal scoring. I don’t see that scoring disappearing for Cole so this is basically all about him hitting the doubles reliably and he is steadily getting better in that department as well. I think the 4/5 on Cole to win this one is a bit too big, especially as he’ll be nicely into his work by the time this match comes around.
