There is another match in the Premier League on Monday evening as two sides with no relegation concerns but probably not close enough to the top few to be in contention for a European spot meet at Selhurst Park when Crystal Palace take on Burnley.
Both these sides have had a win and a bit of a mauling by one of the top two since the restart but this is a fixture where they can both be competitive so perhaps this won’t be the insignificant contest it has the feel of.
Where to watch
The match has been awarded to Amazon Prime. They are showing the contest for free via their streaming console. The build up begins at 7.30pm and the match kicks off at 8pm.
Crystal Palace
To be fair to Crystal Palace I think they are where they would have expected to be since the restart. They would have fancied their chances of beating Bournemouth in their first game back but I doubt they would have expected to get too much from a trip to Liverpool. This is their first match behind closed doors at Selhurst Park and it will be interesting to see how they go with that as we’ve seen a lot of home sides struggle this term.
We all know that Crystal Palace struggle for goals and that they are pretty tight at the back. That isn’t anything new, but with seven games to go in a season where they are perfectly safe and not really challenging for anything, it will be interesting to see if they test a formation or two that allows them to get more men into the box with next season in mind. If they can put a bit of creativity and an extra man in the box there is no reason why they can’t kick on again.
Burnley
The Clarets are in the same position as their opponents here. Technically their restart began away to Manchester City last Monday but in reality it started against Watford on Thursday night. They won the latter game to completely eradicate any concerns of slipping down the table with their ongoing contract issues, and they can now look forward to the rest of the campaign without any pressure on what they are doing.
The other thing that is the same with Burnley and their opponents is that they too struggle for goals in the main but usually can be relied of defensively. To be fair to Burnley when everyone is fit and firing they do have goals in them but they have had to restart the season without some big players. If Burnley can win here they will go into the top eight in the table, and when you consider that they have had relegation threats hanging over them for much of the season, that would be a commendable effort.

Team News
Crystal Palace look set to be without Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke and Vincent Guaita, who all missed the Liverpool defeat and are yet to recover in time for this match. Jeffrey Schlupp is another man who will miss the match.
Burnley are without a load of big players as well. Jay Rodriguez is being monitored after leaving the win over Watford with an ankle knock. Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood, Robbie Brady and Johann Berg Gudmundsson have all been absent since the restart and this match is set to come too soon for all of them.
Betting
I’m not expecting to see too many goals here I have to admit. I think both coaches would readily admit that their sides are better at defending than they are going forward and that is how I see this match playing out. The problem with that is you’re not going to get too rich backing under 2.5 goals as it isn’t the most shocking expectation for this to be a low scoring match. I’ll play the under in goals but in a different market.
I’ve already had success taking under 0.5 first half goals in a Burnley match since the restart and while it probably isn’t a market that has too much more mileage left in it with the attacking players gradually getting up to speed and things, it should work fine here between two pretty goal shy sides. Both teams are missing starting forwards. There is unlikely to be no Wilfried Zaha or Christian Benteke for Palace and there is definitely no Chris Wood or Ashley Barnes for Burnley. That’s most of the goal threats on the sidelines and given how well these two teams are in organisation and defensive strength it isn’t too hard to see the second half starting with the game still goalless. The under will do me.
