The midweek Major League Soccer action might have started with a drab affair on Tuesday but we should get much more of the entertainment and excitement that the MLS usually brings us with a bumper Wednesday night of action.
There are 12 matches on a good looking card on Wednesday evening with three of them being live on TV for those who watch this league from the UK. The other nine games can all be seen on the bookmaker streams so we can catch all the action.

Big Matches
The televised matches on Wednesday come along right from the beginning as Atlanta United take on their rivals Orlando City in a pretty big match for both teams. Orlando City can actually move to the top of the Eastern Conference for a few minutes with a win here while Atlanta need to win as they are in danger of not making the extended postseason. The second televised game will see the New York Red Bulls in action for the first time since boss Gerhard Struber was appointed as manager. They host Inter Miami will the new leader watching on. The TV action on this side of the pond ends with two teams in decent form in the Western Conference meeting when the Colorado Rapids take on the current Supporters’ Shield holders Los Angeles FC.
Best of the Rest
The top two in the Eastern Conference are both in action over the course of Wednesday night. Columbus Crew currently occupy top spot and they will stay there if they can beat Montreal Impact while Toronto FC will be looking to keep up or possibly take advantage of any slip ups when they go to the Gillette Stadium to meet the New England Revolution. Over in the Western Conference the leaders Seattle Sounders host Real Salt Lake City while second placed Portland Timbers travel to California to take on LA Galaxy. Two of the stragglers in the West meet when the San Jose Earthquakes host the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Betting
It is the sort of card that you want to get heavily stuck into but with a couple of uneasy favourites and a number of teams hampered by international call ups that might not be the best strategy. There is still a lot of football to be played in this competition this season so I’m just going to take the one bet with the aim of landing a winner and moving on when the players return of the fixtures fall a little kinder.
The match in question sees Sporting Kansas City taking on Chicago Fire and I’m expecting a home win here. Chicago haven’t won a match on the road this season and are a lot poorer on their travels than they are at Soldier Field. To be fair, Sporting Kansas City are not going great guns on home soil but they have goals in them and that is something I’m not convinced that the Fire do have on their travels. SKC are without Alan Pulido here but they have enough to get the job done in my eyes.
