2021 in the NFL begins with the final week of the regular season and by the end of Sunday we will know the teams who are progressing to the postseason and who will play who in the wildcard round next weekend, with plenty still to be finalised over the course of the day.
It might be the final week of the regular season but we are still going to be treated to two TV games in the early slots and with each match over the course of the day being a divisional clash with wildcard spots up for grabs we should get a decent night of action.
1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK Time)
The televised match first up for us in the UK comes from Cleveland where the Cleveland Browns are involved in a huge match as they go after the win which will confirm them in the play-offs which get underway next week. In order to guarantee getting there they must beat the Pittsburgh Steelers but are getting them at the right time with the Steelers already confirming that key players will be rested. The Baltimore Ravens also need to win their last match in the AFC North against the Cincinnati Bengals if they are going to get into the postseason.
The other team playing for something in this slot of games are the Miami Dolphins. They head to the AFC East winners Buffalo Bills who are looking to secure the second seed in the Conference with a win. The Dolphins need to win to guarantee they get into the play-offs. Anything else leaves the door open for the Indianapolis Colts and others to take their place. Elsewhere the Dallas Cowboys will look to pile the pressure on the Washington Football Team when they head to the Big Apple to face the New York Giants. The other matches sees the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots meeting the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

4.25pm Kick Offs (9.25pm UK Time)
The second slot of matches sees us enjoying a clash in the NFC West as our televised offering as the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Arizona Cardinals in a match where the winners will be guaranteed a wildcard berth in the NFC. The other key clashes in this slot come in the AFC South where the title is up for grabs. The Tennessee Titans have their destiny in their own hands and if they go to the Houston Texans and win they will win the division and host the fifth best team next week. If they slip up they open the door to the Indianapolis Colts who look to have a much easier contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The other match of interest in this second slot comes from Soldier Field where the Chicago Bears will be guaranteed a play-off spot if they can overcome the Green Bay Packers who need to win themselves to guarantee the number one seed in the NFC. If the Packers lose that match a Seattle win at San Francisco 49ers will see the Seahawks have next week off and be the number one seed. The New Orleans Saints will keep their eye on those two matches as they can still sneak into the number one seed but they have to beat the Carolina Panthers to have any chance of that. The other two matches come from the AFC West where the Denver Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Arrowhead.
Betting
The last week of the regular season is always something of a punting graveyard and so I’m not going to go mad across these matches. The first thing we have to do is get involved in matches which have a competitive edge to them. Dead rubbers are lotteries at the best of times but especially this week when teams rest their best players and things like that. My bet comes from the MetLife Stadium where I think the Dallas Cowboys can get the better of the New York Giants.
The Giants were making their way into contention to win the NFC East a few weeks ago but three losses on the bounce have put those hopes out of their hands. They will still have a chance of winning the division but they have to win this match and hope Washington lose in the Sunday Night Football. The same scenario applies to the Cowboys here too and they are carrying all the momentum into the contest having not just won their last three matches but really found some offensive power and consistency which the Giants have lacked all season. Dallas have won the last seven meetings between these two. I expect them to make that eight here.
