The second day of the Modus Online Live League takes place in the secluded studio setup as the bid to fill the sporting void goes on. While the professionals battle it out in Milton Keynes, six amateurs compete for valuable points in this competition.
We are still finding out how the format is going to work and everything but the one thing that we do know is that the six players who were in action on Monday will again be gracing our streams throughout Tuesday morning.
The Format
We don’t know the full extent of the format yet. What we do know is that six players will toe the oche each day and play each other over the best of seven legs and go towards a league table. There is talk on the bigger darts forums that there will be a final of some sort each week but information for this event is a little light in forthcoming at the minute so we’ll have to play it by ear so to speak. The other thing we know is this event can be streamed with the major bookmaker sites or on the Online Darts YouTube channel.

Monday Recap
Arron Monk was the main man on Monday as he went through the card to open up the tournament. What that means going forward remains to be seen but it shows he is in good form. Martin Adams and Richard North both picked up three wins with Justin Smith coming out with two wins. There were solitary victories for the other two players Andy Jenkins and Jarred Cole who never really had their best stuff with them.
It wasn’t the best of starts to the return of this competition for us betting wise. Cole wasn’t particularly great all day but he was especially bad against Richard North, who to be fair played quite well, so even though Cole had the advantage of throw after being broken twice in the first three legs he was never really in the race despite pulling it back to 3-2 before he was beaten. We’ll be looking for better over the course of Tuesday.

Group Betting
I’m still in the process of working out what everything means in this tournament and how much winning each day is worth and things like that so until we know the structure overall and stuff it isn’t very easy to bet on the group itself. My gut feeling is that Monk might be a little short with those who were rusty a little more up to speed now but that remains to be seen. Either way I’ll wait until the picture is a little clearer before betting.
Match Betting
One thing we did discover on Monday was that the fixtures are how the throw is established so the home player in the list of fixtures above will throw first in that respective match. In a best of seven that gives us a pretty big advantage so it is good to have that on our side. We’re still getting a feel for how it all works overall though so I’m going to keep bets to a minimum but I’m happy to get involved in one bet for Tuesday.
That comes in the form of Andy Jenkins to beat Justin Smith. Jenkins only won one match on Monday but he lost 4-3 in a couple of others when he didn’t have the throw on his side so his record was worse than his performances. One of those 4-3 losses came against Smith in a match where Jenkins actually had the higher average. That was a theme of the day where Jenkins finished with a much higher average than his opponent here. In fact, in his last two matches Smith didn’t even average 80. Jenkins is much better than that and he is usually a very good holder of throw so the fact he has that advantage this time I think he can turn the tables on the youngster and come out on top when they meet on Tuesday.
