Premier League 2021-22 – Wednesday 23rd February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Premier League continues to catch up with the matches that were postponed earlier in the season because of Covid on Wednesday evening when three big fixtures take place which will have a big impact on both ends of the table.

Much like last week, there is no UK TV coverage of any of these three matches so only those overseas will be legally able to watch the games unless you are going to them. Social media should give constant updates.

Burnley vs Tottenham (19.30)

Two sides who had good wins at the weekend compete in one of the matches on Wednesday evening when Burnley take on Tottenham Hotspur in an important match for both of the teams in their need for points.

Burnley came off the bottom with that win over Brighton on Saturday and would move to within two points of safety if they can back that up with another here. Tottenham will close in to within four points of Manchester United in the race for fourth spot and would still have enough games in hand to overtake them should they win here so both teams will be fired up for this one. Spurs generally do ok against Burnley but you won’t get me trusting their back line anytime soon. Burnley tend to defend well and in Wout Weghorst look to have a real threat up top. I wouldn’t be surprised to see goals in this match but I’m happy to sit it out.

Watford vs Crystal Palace (19.30)

Watford are another team who had a good win on Saturday and they will be looking to build on that and move to within a point of safety when they entertain a Crystal Palace side who will be going up against their former manager Roy Hodgson at Vicarage Road.

Watford won well at Aston Villa at the weekend when they scored for the first time under their new boss. Perhaps more importantly than the amount of goals they are or are not scoring is the fact they kept another clean sheet. They rode their luck a little though surrendering 20 shots to Villa on the afternoon but terrible finishing meant that only one was on target. Crystal Palace suffered late heartache against Chelsea at the weekend but I’m certain if they keep playing the way they are then they will win plenty of matches soon. Palace get Conor Gallagher back for this match after he was unable to play against his parent club on Saturday so that will help. Palace create a lot of chances and I think against a Watford defence that is still quite naïve they will score goals here. I’m not sure about the Palace back line though and when Watford attacked on Saturday they looked like they might score at will. I think this will be a match both sides will feel they can win and that can lead to both finding the net before it is over.

Liverpool vs Leeds United (19.45)

The slightly later kick off on Wednesday evening sees Liverpool looking to cut the gap at the top of the table to just three points when they host a Leeds United side who will play with plenty of excitement in their play and will look to cause a big upset.

Liverpool took an absolute age to get going against Norwich City at the weekend but when they did their class showed and you would imagine their quality will show here too. Leeds will certainly contribute to this game in the attacking areas of it but whether their defence can stand up to the scrutiny it is likely to be under remains to be seen. There might be a bit of an edge to this game too with Leeds not particularly impressed with the antics of Jurgen Klopp in the reverse meeting, with good reason, so this is a game that could descend into something unpredictable rather quickly. To add to the unpredictability of it another of these crazy weather fronts will be blowing through this part of the world during the game so while I would expect to see a number of goals, the fact I’ve been burnt backing overs in a fixture of this kind before and the weather not being particularly inspiring I’m happy to leave this one alone.
