Big Matches
There might be fewer matches on Wednesday evening but it is still a night where the top sides in both Conferences are in action. FC Cincinnati have just started to hit a few bumps in the road and have seen their lead in the race for the Supporters’ Shield cut to seven points. They will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to the Big Apple to take on the New York Red Bulls. St Louis City SC lead the way in the Western Conference and they also have an away assignment to overcome. They travel to the champions Los Angeles FC in arguably the standout fixture in the evening.
Best of the Rest
In fact, the top three in each Conference are all on show on Wednesday evening. Nashville SC are leading the chase behind FC Cincinnati in the East and they host a resurgent Philadelphia Union at GEODIS Park while second in the West are the Seattle Sounders and they head for California to face a much improved San Jose Earthquakes side. New England Revolution start the night in third in the East and they host Atlanta United. Real Salt Lake and Austin FC are the two form teams in MLS at the minute and they travel to Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver Whitecaps respectively. It is a big night at Soldier Field too where ninth placed CF Montreal head to a Chicago Fire side two spots below them in the table but on the same number of points as them.
Betting
When Real Salt Lake announced the signing of Chicho Arango a couple of months ago it was down with serious excitement and it took him 25 minutes to show why on debut at the weekend when he opened the scoring in an emphatic 4-0 win against Orlando City SC. It isn’t just his goals that RSL were excited about. Yes they now have a much better option to put away more of the insane number of chances that they create but the rest of the talent on the roster will have more space to do their thing as defenders focus on Arango.
They now head to a side in a similar position with Sporting Kansas City finding that defenders are having to take care of the in form Alan Pulido which brings the rest of their attacking core into play, and as such I’m expecting a very entertaining match at Children’s Mercy Park, one where I expect goals to come quite naturally given the two attacking units that we have on show. SKC have kept one clean sheet in 11 while 30 goals have been scored in RSL away games with seven of their 11 road trips having at least three goals in them. I like over 3 goals here.
