Metro Bank One Day Cup 2023 – Thursday 10th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Metro Bank One Day Cup competition continues on Thursday when a couple of matches take place in Group B with four teams looking for points as they head towards the halfway mark of the first part of the campaign.

As has been the case throughout this tournament so far, The Hundred has the TV treatment so if you have a bet on either of the two matches on Thursday and want to follow it you will need to load up the stream that the home county provides.

Glamorgan vs Warwickshire (11.00)

The big match on Thursday comes from Neath rather than Cardiff where the 2021 champions Glamorgan will go in search of a second win in the campaign when they host the Group B leaders Warwickshire.

It has to be said that the Bears are having quite a white ball season having topped the North Group in the Vitality Blast and now winning their opening two matches in the 50 over competition. They have won those without a raft of players who they have lost to The Hundred and having had Danny Briggs available for the previous game, he isn’t around for this one. Glamorgan have a full slate of results in this competition. They have a win, a loss and a washout against Durham last time out so they will be eager to win here just to keep their heads above 50% in terms of their win:loss ratio. They are sending out mixed messages though because for some reason, despite the last game getting washed out they have chosen to rest Colin Ingram, the hero of the win over Derbyshire, and Jamie McIlroy. That makes me side with Warwickshire here but they are missing plenty and are priced up short enough for me to leave this one alone.

Worcestershire vs Gloucestershire (11.00)

The other match on Thursday sees two sides with two wins from three matches battling it out when Worcestershire look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on a Gloucestershire who also lost their 100% record last time out.

Worcestershire won their opening two matches in pretty emphatic fashion against Durham and Glamorgan before coming up short against Somerset last time out, although they were missing a few players for that contest. Here they have the likes of Gareth Roderick, Matthew Waite and Pat Brown back and they have added Logan van Beek to their ranks too which is a fair signing for this level of competition. Gloucestershire were good winners over Derbyshire and Northamptonshire in their opening two matches before going down to Warwickshire last time out when they were bundled out for 120. I nailed my colours to the Worcestershire mast before a ball was bowled in this competition and while it isn’t overly helpful that Brett D’Oliveira is out I do think the Rapids are much the better and more experienced side and I think that will lead to a fairly comfortable win over a Gloucestershire outfit who need to be at their very best to get anything in this tournament.
