The latest weekend of action in the Premier League concludes with what has to be considered a bumper Sunday card where as many as half of the division are on show over the course of what looks a tasty day of football.
As is always the case on a Sunday we have a couple of matches to enjoy on the TV for us in the UK and the TV coverage should provide regular updates in the other games as a couple of them in particular will impact the top of the table.
Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (2pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)
West Ham United v Everton (1pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Aston Villa v Luton Town
Brighton & Hove Albion v Fulham

The televised action on Sunday begins in the capital where we will see the latest renewal of the David Moyes derby as his current side West Ham United will look for three points when they host his former side Everton at the London Stadium. When that is done the attention will head towards Manchester where red hosts blue as Manchester United meet Manchester City in a very intriguing first derby of the season, which could have come at a bad time for the home side.
Elsewhere, Liverpool will look to maintain their title challenge when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Anfield for a fixture which carries plenty of historical context. Aston Villa are looking like the real deal at the minute and they go in search of Premier League home win number 12 in succession when they host a Luton Town side who dropped into the bottom three on Saturday. The other match comes from the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion take on Fulham.
Betting
A couple of bets standout to me over the course of the afternoon and we begin at Anfield where goals are surely in the offing. Luton Town scored twice against Nottingham Forest last week and as much as I love my beloved Hatters, if we’re scoring twice against the Tricky Trees then Liverpool could have an absolute field day against them. Forest might have to fight fire with fire and I wouldn’t be completely surprised if they notch in this game. They have scored at Old Trafford, the Emirates and Stamford Bridge this season so there are goals at the big teams in this Forest setup. If Liverpool fancy the job though this could get nasty. Liverpool have scored three against Bournemouth, Aston Villa and West Ham at home and Forest could be ripe for even more than that. I don’t think over 3.5 goals is asking too much here. It landed last season here and Liverpool look more potent to me and Forest potentially more there for the taking.
The other bet I like is goals in the Manchester derby. Thankfully the line isn’t as high as it is at Anfield and you can get a decent price on a 2.75 goal line. SO far at Old Trafford this season only Wolves have failed to score and only they know how that was the case. Since then, Forest have scored twice here, Brighton have scored three times while Crystal Palace and Brentford have also scored on this ground, while even Sheffield United scored against them last week. A Manchester United side as open as this simply have to concede goals in this game but they might find some joy going the other way on the counter. Sheffield United, Fulham, Wolves and West Ham have all scored against this Manchester City side and United have much more to offer going forward than those. If we include the cup final that last four games between these two have had at least three goals in them and I expect this to add to that sequence.
