NFL 2023 – Week 8 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

We head towards the halfway point of the NFL 2023 season on Sunday when the majority of the matches for the week are played out in the usual two kick off slots, which are an hour earlier after the clocks went back in the UK.

The same schedule applies to any other Sunday which means that we have a couple of matches live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy and then Red Zone will have the best bits of all the other games. Some bookmakers stream the non-televised games too.

1pm Kick Offs (5pm UK time)

We head to Texas for the first TV game on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys look to start to find some consistency as they bid to chase down the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. The Los Angeles Rams are the visitors in what should be a great way to start the televised action. Eight other matches take place in this slot with three of them from the same division, the pick of which sees the Washington Commanders hosting the very good looking Philadelphia Eagles. Up in the NFC North the Green Bay Packers welcome the Minnesota Vikings while in the AFC East the Miami Dolphins clash with the New England Patriots.

That leaves us with five other matches with the two New York teams meeting at MetLife Stadium as the Jets are the away side in their own stadium when they meet the Giants. Carolina Panthers take on Houston Texans in another game while the Indianapolis Colts play host to the New Orleans Saints. The other two matches sees the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans taking on the Atlanta Falcons.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (8.05/8.25pm UK time)

We are off to California for the second TV game for us in the UK to enjoy and we should be in for a cracking contest as the San Francisco 49ers look to build on their very strong start to the season when they host the team who have been knocking on the door for a Super Bowl win in recent times in the Cincinnati Bengals. Just three other matches take place in the later slot with the Denver Broncos welcoming the champions Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

The other two matches are both hosted by teams in the NFC West who will be hoping that there is a slip up from the 49ers and that they can take advantage. The Seattle Seahawks are the team best placed to do that and they welcome the Cleveland Browns to Lumen Field while the other game sees the Arizona Cardinals hosting a Baltimore Ravens who have really announced themselves as Super Bowl contenders in recent weeks.

Betting

I have to say I’m a little surprised that we can get anything close to a fair price on the Los Angeles Rams staying within a touchdown of a potentially overrated Dallas Cowboys side. There is no doubt there is talent in the Cowboys’ roster but at the same time they lack consistency and their quarterback has been a concern for a while now. The key for the Rams here is that they have a good run defence so they should be able to force Dak Prescott to win the game through the air which will keep their secondary interested.

The Los Angeles Rams will be smarting from letting a fourth quarter lead slip but with the San Francisco 49ers just starting to slow up a touch there is a chance that the Rams can close in on them but they have to keep winning. We know this Dallas secondary has been impacted by injury and Matt Stafford certainly has the weapons to take advantage of that. Whether the visitors win or not remains to be seen but I think they can keep within their 7.5 point start.
