The penultimate set of matches in the Euro 2024 qualifying event begins on Thursday evening when four groups play their second last round of games on a night where more nations will be looking to either secure qualification or close in on it.
We have some big names who have already qualified taking to the pitch on Thursday with the likes of Spain and Portugal among them while Hungary are one of the nations who will be out to join them in the finals.
Group A
We already know that Spain and Scotland will qualify from Group A but top spot is still to be determined and that could be important when it comes to seeding in the finals. Spain currently lead the way on goal difference and they will look to have something of a penalty kick when they head to a Cyprus side who have faded over the last few windows. Scotland have the trickier test to keep pace with the Spaniards. They make the trip to Georgia who are gearing up to come through the playoffs to reach the finals.
Group F
There isn’t too much to play for in Group F on Thursday night as we already know that Belgium and Austria have qualified for the finals and will probably do it in that order. Austria can ask the question of Belgium when it comes to winning the group though when they make the trip to Estonia. Belgium aren’t in action on Thursday so the Austrians will move to the top of the table with a win. The other match sees Azerbaijan looking to close in on a playoff spot when they host an already eliminated Sweden.

Group G
It is a big night for Hungary as they look to qualify for the finals and with it claim top spot in Group G. With second placed Serbia not in action, should Hungary go to Bulgaria and win they will be guaranteed their place in the finals. They will also make it there with a draw but would leave top spot open to the final game. Montenegro will be looking to take their own qualification hopes down to the final game. If that is to happen then they have to beat Lithuania at home in the later of the two games in this group.
Group J
The other group in action on Thursday night is Group J. We already know that Portugal will be at the finals as the winner of the section and they will look to keep their 100% record intact when they make the trip to take on a Liechtenstein side who could be cannon fodder. The race for second spot is still interesting though. Slovakia head the way and if they win at home to Iceland they will be assured of qualification but were they to slip up then Luxembourg could take it to the final day if they can beat a Bosnia-Herzegovina side who know their only route through to the finals from here is via the playoffs.
Betting
There are a lot of dead rubbers to pick our way through on Thursday evening but among the competitive games I think Luxembourg could be a good bet to see off Bosnia-Herzegovina. Luxembourg begin the night knowing that they are guaranteed a playoff spot but have to win the match to keep their automatic qualifying hopes alive but with the guarantee to fall back on there is nothing to lose in giving this a right good go.
Bosnia-Herzegovina already know they will be heading towards the play-offs and they have chosen to rest some big names for this international window with Edin Dzeko left out while the likes of Sead Kolasinac and Miralem Pjanic both pulling out with niggles. Bosnia have already lost at home to Luxembourg and with nothing to play for they probably shouldn’t be the favourites for this. Usually when a handy price on a draw no bet line is on offer I take that but with the draw being no use to Luxembourg I’ll back them to win at a tastier price.
