The group stage of the qualifying competition for Euro 2024 comes to a close on Tuesday night and by the end of the evening we will know exactly who has automatically qualified for the main draw and who will be in the play-offs.
There is only one qualifying spot still to be determined with two teams in the running for that. The rest of the evening will centre round who does and who doesn’t make the play-offs for a last chance to qualify.
Group B
There are two matches in Group B on Tuesday evening even though we already know that France and the Netherlands will qualify for the finals. Both teams conclude their qualifying campaign on Tuesday with away matches. France have the tougher of those games with them heading to Greece who still have a chance of making it through via the play-offs. The Netherlands should have a much easier time of it when they head to Gibraltar who will be reeling from their mauling by France on Saturday night.
Group D
This is the group where all of the attention will be on Tuesday evening as it is the one with the final qualifying spot will to be decided. We already know that Turkey will be in the finals next summer but they could play a big role in who joins them. They travel to Wales who know only a win keeps their automatic qualifying hopes alive. That might still be irrelevant should Croatia come out on top in the other game. They host an Armenia side who have been competitive but who can no longer go through.

Group J
The other group to conclude on Tuesday evening is Group J where we already know that Switzerland and Romania will be lining up in Germany next summer and they will conclude the group in Bucharest with the winner coming out on top in the group. Romania will claim that position so long as they avoid defeat. Elsewhere, Israel will be competing in the play-offs for a qualifying spot and they finish their campaign off away to Andorra while Kosovo host Belarus in the other match.
Betting
I’ll finish off the qualifying campaign with the one bet which comes in the form of goals in the Wales vs Turkey match. Wales have to win this game. There is no other way they can automatically qualify but they have a play-off spot assured so there is no reason not to give this a right good go but they are up against a Turkey side who are decent these days and even though they are missing some players in this international break they have just beaten Germany 3-2.
Turkey have only once failed to score in this group and that was away in Croatia but I’m not convinced this Welsh defence is of the standard to keep them out. Wales will have to be more attacking than they were in Armenia at the weekend and while Turkey have gone well in this group they have conceded in both games against Armenia and twice in Latvia so they are not watertight. Should Turkey score Wales would have to be even more gung ho but with a huge Cardiff crowd behind them they’ll fancy the job. I’m surprised the line is only 2.25 goals for this one but I’m happy to be on the over where a free scoring Turkey are involved.
