The Super League XXIX season continues on Saturday afternoon when half of the competition are in action on a day where some struggling teams will look to get their campaign back on track as we head to the break for the Challenge Cup next week.
As is the case throughout the entirety of the season, all three matches will be live on TV for us to watch, although you will need a couple of devices if you want to watch them in full because two games clash.
Huddersfield Giants vs Hull KR (15.00 – Sky Sports Arena)
One of the three matches on Saturday comes from the John Smith’s Stadium where Huddersfield Giants will look to build on their emphatic win over the Castleford Tigers last week when they host a Hull KR side who have now lost their last two matches.
Hull KR started the season in good touch with a pair of victories but one of those was against Hull FC which hasn’t exactly been franked as a form guide and now they suddenly look a little ordinary, although the two losses were to Salford Red Devils and Warrington Wolves which aren’t the worst in the world. Huddersfield had a huge win over Castleford Tigers last week but they need to show more than that for me to be convinced by them, although their opening week win over Leigh Leopards was more encouraging. Their two losses have only been against Wigan Warriors and St Helens and most teams will be losing those games this season. On a form guide, I’d probably side with Huddersfield here but they need to show a bit more consistency for my liking before I trust them with my money.

Hull FC vs Leigh Leopards (15.00 – Sky Sports Action)
The other match to begin in the first stage of the afternoon comes from the MKM Stadium where Hull FC will look for a second win of the campaign when they go up against the Challenge Cup winners of last season in the Leigh Leopards.
The Leopards were the big surprise packages last term but they haven’t started this season as well having lost all three of their Super League matches to date. They have only lost them by a cumulative 22 points though so it isn’t like they have been blown away and those losses were to Huddersfield, St Helens and Leeds which aren’t the worst results. Hull FC are a win better off than Leigh but that only came against the London Broncos and that certainly isn’t looking a great form guide so far. In their other three matches they have lost comfortably to Hull KR, Warrington and Catalans and in that win over London they fell over the line. I don’t think Hull FC are a great side so I’m prepared to take a chance on Leigh. It isn’t ideal that they have no John Asiata or Edwin Ipape but it does look like Lachlan Lam will play here and that should be enough to give Leigh enough of an edge to win this one.
Catalans Dragons vs Castleford Tigers (17.30 – Sky Sports Arena)
The last of the matches to kick off on Saturday comes from France where the Catalans Dragons play host to the Castleford Tigers in a match where two sides who have made very different starts to their campaigns meet.
Catalans have won three of their opening four matches whereas Castleford have lost all four of their games. The issue for the Tigers is with the exception of their defeat to Salford where they were within four points, they have been blown away in the other three games and you fear they could cop another beating here because when they face the job Catalans can be pretty ruthless but an indifferent side in Hull FC avoided a thrashing last week and that puts me off getting involved in the Dragons here, especially as they are giving up a 24 point start to their opponents here. I’m certainly in no rush to take the Tigers so this one is a pretty easy one to leave alone.
