The third round of the ATP Miami Open concludes on the show courts at the Hard Rock Stadium on Monday as the second leg of the Sunshine Slam heads towards the business part of the latest Masters 1000 competition.
We’ve seen some fantastic tennis so far this week and although some of the big names due to be on show on Monday have bitten the dust, there is still a decent schedule for us to look forward to and enjoy over the course of the day.
Stadium Court
That schedule includes just two matches from the Stadium from the ATP draw and it is the men who actually get things underway when Alexander Zverev will look to make it into the last 16 in Miami once again when he goes up against Christopher Eubanks who came through a marathon tussle with Dan Evans in the last round. We have to wait for the opening match of the night session for the other men’s game and it could be well worth waiting for as the Indian Wells winner Carlos Alcaraz goes up against the elite entertainer that is Gael Monfils.
Grandstand
There are three matches on the Grandstand on Monday and they begin once a women’s match has been played out. When the men come out to play it will be Alex de Minaur who gets us up and running when he meets Jan-Lennard Struff before Hubert Hurkacz, a former champion of this event, takes on one of the brightest young American players in Seb Korda, who surely won’t lack for support. We conclude the men’s action on the Grandstand with Grigor Dimitrov looking to make it into the last 16 once again. Yannick Hanfmann will be looking to make the most of his chance to shine.

Best of the Rest
The rest of the men’s action is restricted to the Butch Buchholz court and Court 1. There are two matches on the former where the men get us underway as Francisco Cerundolo takes on Karen Khachanov in what looks like a decent appetiser. We have to wait until the final match on the schedule for the other game to come along where Ben Shelton will face off against Lorenzo Musetti. Over on Court 1 there is also one match which also opens the show as Alexei Popyrin faces Fabian Marozsan, who absolutely destroyed Holger Rune on Sunday.
Betting
This isn’t a day where too much jumps off the page at me but one bet which I do like the look of comes in the form of Alexei Popyrin to being Fabian Marozsan down to earth with a bit of a bump. I say that because we see it all the time that one of the hardest things in sport is to back up a huge win on a relatively big stage in a much lower key affair which is exactly the task awaiting Marozsan in this encounter. He had a huge win over Holger Rune in what was as clean a performance as you’ll see and clearly if he plays that well again he’ll be tough to beat. He also wouldn’t be as low in the rankings as he is if he does that every week.
Popyrin missed Indian Wells recently with an abdominal strain and that is always a concern but he hasn’t looked in any trouble so far this week and that is a positive. He had a good win himself over Jiri Lehecka in the previous round so his confidence won’t be too bad. For all that Marozsan played well against Rune, he was only 9-7 on a hard court prior to this week this season and only 12:11 last season. Clay is where his best tennis has come and with a drop off almost inevitable I think the odds against on Popyrin, who surely would have been a pick ‘em if not a favourite before the Marozsan win over Rune, looks a bit of value.
