Big Matches
Inter Miami are still leading the way in MLS but we are now in the period of the season where they are going to be without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez because of the Copa America and you wonder what impact that will have. They head to Philadelphia Union who themselves are missing a key attacking player in Daniel Gazdag. That could open the door for FC Cincinnati to move to the top of the Eastern Conference but they would need to win away to the San Jose Earthquakes in order for that to happen. Real Salt Lake are the other team who will be looking to end the night in front in the race for the Supporters’ Shield. They head to a weakened CF Montreal side who have a number of players away at the Copa America.
Best of the Rest
Los Angeles FC have moved into second spot in the Western Conference and they will be looking to maintain their excellent run when they go to Orlando City SC who themselves are missing three players to the Copa America. New York Red Bulls are one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference and can move into the top three in that table when they host Nashville SC while Minnesota United have been going well all season and will be looking to continue that run when they head off to Lumen Field to take on Seattle Sounders. Two historical teams in the competition also meet when LA Galaxy play host to Sporting Kansas City.
Betting
I’ll go with three bets over the course of the night with the first one coming in the game between Charlotte FC and DC United where I fancy the home side to continue their fine home record this term. Charlotte are extremely tough to break down on home soil and I’m not sure DC United are the ones to do it and even if they are you would imagine Charlotte FC will find the back of the net enough times to win anyway because DC have conceded 12 goals in their last five matches and are really struggling defensively. Charlotte have had a couple of weeks off since that fine win in Atlanta and a repeat of that performance should be more than enough to get the job done here.
Los Angeles FC are one of the form teams in MLS at the minute and there is no reason why that can’t continue against an Orlando City SC side who are without their goalkeeper Pedro Gallese and two more defensive players who are on international duty in the form of David Brekalo, who is at the Euros with Slovenia, and Wilder Cartagena who is away at the Copa America. Los Angeles have lost one of their last 10 matches and haven’t conceded a goal in their last five and although Timothy Tillman is at the Copa America, they have enough depth in midfield to get the job done against an Orlando side who are finding it hard to win on home soil this term.
The other bet that I like is for Colorado Rapids to get back to winning ways when they host Austin FC. Austin haven’t been very good on their travels this term with just the one win to their name and they are going to be without a couple of players who are at the Copa America. The Rapids were on a bad trot heading into the international break which they had last week but they have had enough time to take stock of where they are and get back to winning ways. They haven’t used their home advantage as much as I would have expected them to this season but against a weak travelling side I fancy the Rapids to get back to winning ways here.
