The second set of matches in the Copa America get underway on Tuesday night when we return to Group A as the tournament heads to Kansas City for the first time for the match between Peru and Canada.
Peru picked up a draw in their opening match against Chile but have Argentina in their last one so they can’t afford to slip up here. Canada have got Argentina out of the way and will feel that their tournament begins here so we should be in for a good one.

The match will be shown live and in full on the Premier Sports 1 channel with the coverage getting started at 10.50pm ahead of the 11pm kick off.
Peru
I think it is fair to say that expectations weren’t particularly high for Peru heading into this tournament based on their World Cup qualifying campaign and after the opening match I doubt anything has changed. Admittedly they were up against rivals Chile and probably knew that with Argentina to come the last thing they could afford in that match was a defeat. They got the draw they probably were happy with and now they have to make that point look a better one by getting all three here.
Peru played six matches in World Cup qualifying before coming here and had one goal to show for their efforts and against Chile in the first set of games they could only find their way to having four shots on goal. They have to find more of an attacking output if they are going to stay in this tournament because even though Argentina might well be through come their meeting, they won’t get any joy without offering a threat going the other way.

Canada
I was interested to see what we would get from Canada in their opening match because it was the first competitive game that they had played under Jesse Marsch and the opponent could barely be any more difficult. I actually thought that what we got from the Canadians was very positive. They were caught out plenty of times defensively but we have to remember they were up against Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez, Angel di Maria and others so that was probably always going to happen.
There was no shutting up shop and looking to contain and keep the score down for the Canadians though and that was very much a positive. They know that they will probably be judged more on what they offer from here on in but with their defence unlikely to be under as much pressure in this one as it was in the last game, if they can show some composure in front of goal there is no reason why they can’t pick up a huge three points here.
Betting
I really don’t like this current Peru side. I don’t see much of a threat at all and while at the other end they are pretty tight I think Canada will go at them in this one and in the end I think the resistance will break. Canada showed no fear against Argentina. Admittedly it didn’t do them a whole lot of good when you consider that they were still beaten, but they registered seven shots in the first half of that game alone so you would imagine they are going to get into good areas here.
I want to be on Canada here but I think we saw enough in the second round of group matches in the Euros to know that the draw is a major runner in these middle games, especially in a tournament where the third placed teams do not progress to the next stage so I will look at the North American side on the Asian line where we would get half of our stake back if the game ends as a draw. There was a lot to like about the Canadians in that opener and if they can get in front they might find space to really enjoy themselves here.
