The Metro Bank One Day Cup is reaching the end of the group stage of the competition and we get closer to doing so on Friday when another five matches take place across the two sections on a key day in the tournament.
Unfortunately given how important a day it is, The Hundred is still getting the TV treatment so if you have a bet on any of these matches and want to follow it then you will need to fire up the live stream that the home county provides once again.
Group A
Four teams are tied at the top on eight points heading into Friday and they are all in action with so much at stake with only three coming out of the group. Two of those four sides meet at Taunton when Somerset go up against Worcestershire in the big match of the day. Hampshire moved second with a win over Derbyshire on Wednesday and they make the long trip to Durham looking to stay in the top two in the table. Derbyshire need help from those around them after that loss in midweek and will look to do their part of the bargain when they host a Kent side who are out of the competition.

Group B
The washout in this group on Thursday means that the top two look away and gone and so the interest on Friday comes in the race for the third qualifying spot where Nottinghamshire and Gloucestershire will look to jump above Leicestershire into that position with matches running out. Gloucestershire only have one game left after this so they have to win here. A Nottinghamshire win puts them in control of their own destiny in the last two games. The other match in this group comes in the day-night match which sees two teams already out of the competition meeting when Essex host Surrey at Chelmsford.
Betting
I was staggered to see that Gloucestershire are resting comfortably their best bowler in this competition in Matt Taylor for their trip to Trent Bridge. That says to me that they have given up on going through because Taylor hasn’t played all of the Championship matches this season so his workload hasn’t been incredibly strong. That in turn makes me think that the 10/11 on Nottinghamshire to win this one is a bet well worth taking.
I look at this Nottinghamshire side and their batting looks good from one to eight really and that is going to be even more significant with no Taylor in the opposition. I don’t hate the Gloucestershire batting order but the Nottinghamshire bowling looks good on paper and Calvin Harrison has been released from The Hundred to strengthen that bowling, especially with Trent Bridge having hosted a fair bit of cricket in recent times. The vibes around this one are that Nottinghamshire are all out to win and I see no reason why they can’t do that.
