It is the final day of the German Darts Championship on Sunday with the latest European Tour event being played out from the last 16 right the way down to the champion on a day with two tasty sessions of darts on show.
We only lost four seeds from the tournament in the second round on Sunday which means that we still have a number of big names looking to get their name on the trophy and give their qualifying hopes for the European Championship a boost.
First Four Matches
We begin the afternoon with the number one seed looking to make it into the quarter final when Dave Chisnall goes up against Joe Cullen who is the villain of the piece having beaten the crowd favourite Max Hopp on Saturday. When they are done the German number one Martin Schindler will look to reach the last eight when he faces off against Chris Dobey before two Dutch stars take to the stage. Michel van Gerwen and Danny Noppert were World Cup teammates earlier in the year but they are opponents on Sunday. We reach the halfway point of the afternoon with Peter Wright taking on Gian van Veen.

Later Four Matches
The third quarter of the draw opened right up on Saturday and the four men looking to take advantage of that meet in the first two matches in the second half of the afternoon. Krzysztof Ratajski faces Daryl Gurney in the first of those games before Nick Kenny meets the defending champion Ricardo Pietreczko. The penultimate match of the afternoon sees Damon Heta going up against Andrew Gilding before we close off what looks to be a decent session with the tournament favourite Luke Littler meeting Ryan Searle in what should be a high scoring conclusion to the afternoon.
Betting
Daryl Gurney snapped out of a bit of a rough trot at the Players Championship last week where he made the semi-final of one of the events and I think he is a decent bet at even money to see off Krzysztof Ratajski on Sunday afternoon. The break after the World Matchplay looks like it came at a good time for Gurney because he has come back winning matches and looked decent enough in his win on Saturday and given that was his first match on this stage there might be more to come from him.
Ratajski had a good win over Gerwyn Price on Sunday but that might only have opened this part of the draw up for the rest because he fell over the line with an 85.82 average and that sort of form isn’t going much further in this tournament, neither is a 6/25 checkout ratio. The Pole was slightly better in the opening round with a 93.68 average but 6/16 on the doubles is still concerning. Gurney should feel confident about his form after that run last week and he’s likely to be the heavier scorer here so add in Ratajski’s woes on the doubles and Gurney looks a solid play here.
