We have another double header of action in the NFL 2024 season in the Monday Night Football this week with the first of the two games coming from the Hark Rock Stadium as the Miami Dolphins host the Tennessee Titans.
It is fair to say that neither of these two teams have made the start to the season that they would have wanted. Miami go into the match with a 1-2 record for the year while the Titans are 0-3 so a win for both would be welcomed.
Miami Dolphins
The season started off positively for the Miami Dolphins and when you consider that it followed a really good campaign last year, there was understandably a lot of optimism around this part of Florida but disaster struck in the second game when Tua Tagovailoa picked up a concussion and that has seriously knocked back their progress. They lost that match against the Buffalo Bills and then offered very little in defeat to the Seattle Seahawks last week.
Tua remains out for this Monday night clash and so with backup Skylar Thompson also leaving the field last week the newly signed Tyler Huntley will be the trigger man in this match. His immediate aim will be to get Tyreeq Hill back to the sort of form he showed last year. If he can do that then Miami have every chance because defensively this is a better match for them and there is still enough in the run game to get the job done.

Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans haven’t started the season particularly well. They are 0-3 for the year and it is hard to find too many positives about the three games that they have played. This was probably always going to be a tough year as they had to adjust to life without Derrick Henry but they would have expected to offer up better performances than they have done to date. A primetime clash would appear the perfect stage to show that they can be competitive.
The big thing that needs to happen is Will Levis needs to come to the party. The relatively inexperienced quarterback has the unwanted record of more interceptions than touchdown passes this season and that is a recipe for struggle. When you consider the amount of short fields or turnovers that the offense have given up this season, the defence isn’t actually doing a terrible job but you would think it will be tested here.
Betting
These are two out of form teams so I don’t really want to get too involved in the match betting but the one bet that I do like comes in the form of the Tyler Huntley passing attempts. This is a Miami offense which is still largely pass heavy and just because Huntley has only come in and learnt the play book I don’t expect that to change here. Even without Tua last week the Dolphins threw the ball 32 times despite another change in quarterback midway through the game.
The big thing for the Dolphins passing game here, as well as the options that Huntley has at his disposal, is that the Titans secondary are littered with injuries so Miami should be able to feast on it through the air. Miami have had more passing attempts than the 25.5 line that is attributed to Huntley here in all three games so far including the one they won so that bodes well if they get on top here. Tennessee have more than enough on both sides of the ball to keep this competitive though so I like Huntley to have more than 25.5 passing attempts.
