Premier League 2024-25 – Sunday 20th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Sunday afternoon when another couple of matches take place on a day where we will see the top two heading into the weekend in action in different contests looking to extend their positive starts.

Both of the matches are live on the TV in the UK for us to sit back and enjoy throughout the afternoon and with plenty of entertainment expected we shouldn’t go unrewarded if we do check out both matches.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The opening match of the day comes from Molineux where bottom of the table Wolverhampton Wanderers will look to repeat their win over the champions Manchester City from last season in a game where the home side are widely expected to take a bit of a pounding.

One of the reasons for that is because Manchester City went into the weekend as the leading scorers in the division whereas Wolves have conceded 21 goals in seven matches and don’t look like they have an answer to what is coming at them defensively. Gary O’Neil has had a fortnight to put a decent game plan together for this match and we saw last season that he is more than competent at doing that but unless he can sort his defence out his side are in trouble here. After Arsenal lost on Saturday, City are now the only unbeaten team left in the country and while they are conceding goals regularly, they are scoring plenty more and you would imagine they will have goals in them here. I’m a little surprised that Man City are only being asked to give up a 1.5 goal handicap for this one and while I expect them to cover it, I think I’ll play another way to maybe get that onside and that is in Erling Haaland to score two goals and a hat trick at 11/4 and 10/1 respectively. He has eight goals in four games against Wolves including a pair of hat tricks and with Wolves having conceded six to Chelsea and five to Brentford this season you would imagine the Norwegian will be licking his lips. Haaland scored a hat trick against Ipswich and West Ham and a brace against Brentford and he scored twice on international duty against Slovenia too. These prices are daft given how regularly Wolves are conceding.

Liverpool vs Chelsea (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The second match of the afternoon comes from Anfield where two historical rivals meet in a match which could determine who is ready to challenge for the top four and beyond and who isn’t when Liverpool play host to Chelsea.

Both of these sides have had encouraging beginnings to the season but at the same time they have both had schedules which have been favourable and this might be the biggest test that either have faced given that the season is fully up and running now. Chelsea have certainly shown good signs offensively but Liverpool look a lot less chaotic at the back. You would imagine Liverpool will be able to get at this Chelsea defence which is going to be missing Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella to suspension and I wouldn’t be surprised if this explodes into a right old game but so often these big hyped games fail to live up to expectations and at the same time Chelsea might be a little flattered by their schedule. I think I’d rather watch and learn more about these teams than get involved betting wise.
