Preview
The main attention on Wednesday evening will be the huge clash at the heart of North London when Arsenal look to move to within three points of the leaders Liverpool when they host their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in what is always one of the big fixtures of any Premier League season. Elsewhere, David Moyes will return to Goodison Park for his first game back in charge of Everton. He begins his second stint as manager against Aston Villa, who will be looking to improve their away form here.
Newcastle United are at home on Wednesday night as they look to build on two positive cup wins to begin 2025. They will be looking to keep up their fine form when they host a rejuvenated Wolverhampton Wanderers side who will have Matheus Cunha back from injury. The other match could be huge in the relegation picture as Leicester City look to come out of the bottom three when they host a Crystal Palace side who look like they are moving in the right direction.
Betting
It is hard to see past a Newcastle United win here. Wolverhampton Wanderers had a bit of a new manager bounce when Vitor Pereira arrived but it turns out they just had a couple of favourable fixtures against Leicester City and Manchester United who were as much of a mess at the time as they were. Since then they have got a creditable but not spectacular draw with Tottenham given who Spurs were missing and then they were well beaten at home by Nottingham Forest and I’m not convinced they have turned as much of a corner as people think.
Newcastle United have won their last eight matches in all competitions and have only conceded three goals in that period, one which came at the weekend when they rotated their starting XI so Newcastle are functioning well at both ends of the pitch. These two sides look to be heading in different directions at the minute and with this Wolves defence needing personnel reinforcements before it can be trusted I’ll take Newcastle, armed with the hottest centre-forward in the division, to take full advantage.
