NatWest T20 Blast – Hampshire vs Glamorgan Betting Preview

There is one match in the NatWest T20 Blast on Thursday evening and it comes in the South Group where Hampshire play Glamorgan in a match which is considerably bigger for the visitors than it is the hosts.

Hampshire know they are out of this tournament and have been for a while but Glamorgan are very much bang in it and a win here will secure a quarter final spot and send them back to the top of the table at the same time so they have plenty of incentive to go well here.

Hampshire

I’ve made no secret of his abject Hampshire’s campaign has been in this tournament and they are probably as weak in terms of personnel going into this match as they have been for any match in this campaign and that isn’t an ideal scenario when you are facing the likely group winners.

Hampshire have actually competed fairly well with the ball which on paper happens to look like their weak link but with the bat they have been very poor and that is where they need to improve if they are to get anything out of the remainder of their matches.

Glamorgan

The Welsh side lost top spot to Gloucestershire in their last match but there is no shame in losing to them. They have been in good form in one day cricket all summer and will be aiming to kick straight back into gear in this match and get themselves through safely before it gets tight.

Glamorgan have been very good with the bat in this campaign but with the quality of their bowling attack they don’t have to put up the scores some other sides do. If Shaun Tait turns up in top form then the Dragons are going to be a very tough side to beat.

Team News

Hampshire are without a number of senior players here with James Vince away with England, Darren Sammy off at the IPL, Michael Carberry, Chris Wood and Reece Topley all out injured and Jimmy Adams and Will Smith have been rested. Gareth Griffiths could make a debut having joined on loan from Lancashire.

Glamorgan are without the injured Chris Cooke and Dean Cosker while Shaun Tait has now taken over as the overseas player but apart from that they are at full strength and should expect to give a good account of themselves.

Betting

I’m not usually one for backing 8/11 shots away from home in this competition but I’m kind of forced into it here for a variety of reasons. Form is the main one with Glamorgan in decent nick this season and Hampshire looking like a bit of a shambles but that isn’t the only one.

Hampshire’s injuries are another reason why they have to be taken on here. This is a very young looking squad and against a confident and almost relentless and experienced squad that the Welsh side have there is plenty of reason to think Hampshire are going to struggle in this one. I’m happy to be on Glamorgan in this match.
