Bangladesh vs Australia – 4th T20 Tips and Betting Preview

The T20 series between Bangladesh and Australia continues at quite a speed and less than 24 hours after the third match concluded the fourth one will be played out in Dhaka as both sides continue their preparation for the upcoming World T20.

That is all that is left for the two sides to play for because Bangladesh landed the series on Friday when they took an unassailable 3-0 lead with two matches to come. I guess Australia are playing for a bit of pride as well.

Bangladesh

Often when a side is dominant in a series you ask a few questions such as are they only winning when setting the score or chasing it. Bangladesh have done both. Another question would be are they only defending huge totals or can they defend smaller ones? Bangladesh have defended a couple of smaller totals in this series so they appear to have all boxes ticked which is a great place for them to be in right now.

That they have had to defend a couple of low scores suggests that their batting isn’t really firing but we should remember that they are missing three massive players for them with the bat. The more the youngsters and inexperienced players get experience at this level the better they will get so slowly but surely they are likely to build bigger scores. Bangladesh have been commanding with the ball though which is always a good thing.

Australia

I think of all the defeats Australia have suffered in recent times, their loss in the third match on Friday would be the worst of them. I say that because they had Bangladesh two down early on and kept the pressure on throughout to restrict them to a chasable score. Where they were let down was by their batsmen. They were chasing a score of less than 130 and only lost four wickets but still never looked like getting home which is a real concern.

Now that the series is over it will be interesting to see if Australia throw caution to the wind and just try and smack everything when they have the bat in hand. Whichever bowling line up Australia put out you would imagine they’ll keep things in check but that is all to no avail if their batting continues to fail. It might be worth them sending a pinch hitter in to have a go. Anything different has to be worth a try as they’ve looked all at sea so far.

Team News

Bangladesh might look to rotate their side now that the series is won. Mustafizur has to have his workload managed so it would make sense if he sits this match out so soon after the previous one. Taskin Ahmed could be someone who comes in.

Australia have changed their personnel throughout the series as they search for the right combination to get the job done for them here but they haven’t found it. Now might be the time to do something different in terms of sending someone in for a hit.

Betting

I’m going to take things a little more cautiously in this match until we know the makeup of the two teams because there are the potential for wholesale changes now that the series has been won. I would still expect Australia to struggle so I’d be looking to be with Bangladesh still but should someone like Mustafizur be rested then I wouldn’t really want them carrying my money. I’ll head to the performances for this match.

The one I like is Shakib-al-Hasan. He has had a quiet series by his standards but he has still scored at least 26 in all three matches with the bat and he’s taken a wicket in all three matches as well so even in average performances he is regularly covering the 40.5 point line which he has by his name for this match. If Bangladesh do rest one or two players then they will need him to perform to his best. I think at some point in the series he’ll deliver a standout display and if that is here he’ll fly past this total but even another average one should do it.
