Bangladesh will look to continue the T20 momentum they have built up on Sunday when they go at it with New Zealand in the third of the five match series which is being played out over the next few days.
Clearly the attention is on the upcoming World T20 for these two sides but building a head of steam and some confidence has to be another aim and this is another chance for both teams to build it, especially Bangladesh who will win the series if they win this match.
Bangladesh
If you want to be a good side in the limited overs formats you need to be able to be successful when you are posting a score and when you are chasing one. You’ll have a favourite way of doing things like all sides do but you need to be able to do both. It will give Bangladesh a lot of confidence that they won the opening match when chasing and the second one when defending a total they put up. Admittedly the chase was a small one but the precedent is there.
The other thing which will give Bangladesh confidence from the first two matches is they have won when there was plenty in the pitch and then won when the batting conditions were a little bit better. Their spinners have been in the wickets as have their seamers and their top order have all contributed so near enough every box has been ticked by these Bangladesh players, which bodes well for the last three matches and all the cricket that follows it.
New Zealand
After the debacle of the opening match, New Zealand will have been pleased to have been much more competitive in the second one even though they were unable to get over the line. They probably should have won that match but were tentative in the key moments with the bat, which I guess comes as a by-product of the first game in which every time they looked to push they were dismissed. There is a balance to be had with the bat but the Kiwis haven’t quite found it yet.
The good thing for the tourists is that it is really only their batsmen who are struggling. Their bowlers have delivered a couple of perfectly acceptable efforts so far so if their batsmen can find that balance, and they have a key one returning for this match, then you would think there is a win or two in them to make this series interesting in the latter stages. That has to start here though which is where the added pressure comes.

Team News
I’m sure at some point Bangladesh will want to get some game time into their squad members ahead of the World T20 but for now they may remain unchanged as they look to wrap up a second series in quick succession.
New Zealand are expected to have Finn Allen available for this match and it would be a huge surprise if he doesn’t go straight back into the side. Tom Blundell would be most vulnerable you would think given that Rachin Ravindra offers a spin bowling option.
Betting
The bet I like for this third game is the player performance of Rachin Ravindra. I’m not sure I would go as far as to call him a genuine all-rounder but his bowling skills have certainly been a huge help for New Zealand in this series so far. He has three wickets in the series which is a pretty decent effort against batsmen who in theory should be comfortable facing spin. He hasn’t yet clicked with the bat but I wonder if that is about to come.
The reason why I say that is because Finn Allen is expected to come back into the ranks for this one and he’ll be looking to go big so Ravindra might be able to knock the ball around for a bit and give the strike over to Allen before exploding himself when he has got himself in. That luxury in addition to the fact that his bowling looks likely to score points makes me think that the 30.5 point performance line is well within reach.
