The final day of action before the upcoming international break in the Premier League takes place on Sunday when there are three matches to finish the weekend with.
As always there are two matches live on the television which sees Aston Villa hosting Man City in Remi Garde’s first official match in charge at Villa Park and that is followed by the North London derby as Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates. Away from the cameras Liverpool take on Crystal Palace at Anfield.
I fancy Arsenal to win the derby but they are pretty short to do so and given how tough Tottenham have proved to beat in the league in recent times I don’t see any value there and while I’m itching to take Liverpool on after a long trip in midweek Palace’s dip in form puts me off. They look like they need the international break to address a couple of things so I’ll leave that game alone too.
I will however get involved in the opening match of the day where Man City could really go mental on a woeful Aston Villa if they are in the mood.
To put it simply Villa have looked a shambles defensively this season and I’m not sure the choice of Remi Garde is going to change much in that regard. He is better known for getting the ball down and getting on the front foot which might not hold much life against a rampant City side.
Man City can’t seem to keep clean sheets at the minute though and that will encourage Villa here. The only clean sheet City have kept in recent times was at goal-shy Man Utd and with the pace Villa have in the side they could find an area on the park to expose City defensively.
I’m looking at over 2.5 goals in this match. In truth we might not even need Villa to find the net for this line to be covered but we shouldn’t rule out the possibility completely so with that cushion to fall back on I think 8/11 is perfectly reasonable on the overs here.
