The beaten finalists of last season Hobart Hurricanes will be out to go one step further this term and secure that elusive title. Twice the Hurricanes have been a win from the title but they are yet to get over the line so they will be hoping this can be their season. They look to have another strong squad to embark on the tournament so it could just be about holding their nerves.

Preview
If you list the things you want in a good T20 side the Hobart Hurricanes have nearly all of them covered. The one thing you wouldn’t be able to check off is a mystery spinner but they have everything else covered. They have an explosive top order, a solid seam attack and two very good death bowlers so they should be right in the mix once again when the finals come around.
The one concern would be whether Australia come for too many of their players when the ODIs come around. D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott and Clive Rose could be attracted to international duty with good starts to the season. If Australia are kind then the Cane Train should see plenty of stations before the journey is done.

Betting
We have a couple of competitive markets to look at as far as the Hobart Hurricanes season is concerned. I’m reluctant to get too involved in the bowling one. Jofra Archer should be the winner but the competition is pretty strong although to be fair none of the others are priced accordingly to take him on with. I do think one stands out in the batting market though.
With Australia likely to take Ben McDermott and D’Arcy Short away for a period of time in this tournament I think Matthew Wade is a good thing in the batting market even at 5/2. He’s that short because he’s going to open the batting and as captain he isn’t missing matches unless he gets injured. He warmed up for the tournament with a good knock in a double header against Auckland on Thursday so he should hit the ground running. With that in mind I’ll take the Hobart skipper at 5/2.
