Caribbean Premier League – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League hits Guyana for the first time this season on Thursday night when the Guyana Amazon Warriors host the Jamaica Tallawahs at Providence Stadium. This is an important run in the tournament for Guyana and they’ll be looking to take full advantage while Jamaica will be looking to go two points clear at the top.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Guyana have won both their matches on the road in this tournament so far so they have a nice foundation to build from with the four upcoming home matches that they have. I think it would be fair to say that their bowlers have done the bulk of the work so far so their batsmen will be looking to stand up.

That said they have had some excellent individual performances with the bat and if those come together then they are going to be a very tough nut to crack in the remainder of this competition. The big question is whether they can bat well on the sluggish wickets that are usually produced here.

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs have been to both St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and emphatically came away with victories with Chris Gayle a big contributor for them so far and Andre Russell giving him good support especially with the bat in the second game they played.

If there is a concern for Jamaica it comes in the form of their bowling attack which you would have expected to perform better than it has given that it contains the likes of Dale Steyn and Andre Russell when he is fit to bowl. They’ll need to bowl better here.

Betting

Jamaica Tallawahs have been shortening heavily in the lead up to this match but that suits me fine because I am with the home side in this one. We know from this tournament in the past and the tri-series last month just what the wicket is going to play like here. It is going to be low and slow and exactly the opposite to what the Jamaica power men like to play on.

Guyana have a bowling attack which is perfectly suited to this wicket unlike Jamaica who look to have a bit of a weakness in the spin department and I think you’ll struggle on this ground without genuine spin options.

Guyana Amazon Warriors have Veerasammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo and Adam Zampa who are all top qualify spinners and they can spin their side to victory in the opening game of the tournament on this ground.
