Caribbean Premier League Playoffs – Jamaica Tallawahs vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The semi-final of the Caribbean Premier League season takes place on Friday night and it involves two of the bigger islands in the tournament when the Jamaica Tallawahs take on the Trinbago Knight Riders.

Jamaica will be looking to make it to the final at the second opportunity having made a mess of their first chance while Trinbago will be looking for consecutive knockout wins to make it to the final where they will have a chance of defending their title.

Jamaica Tallawahs

It has to be a concern to their fans and followers not to mention staff that the Tallawahs have now lost their last three matches and rarely offering much in the way of competition in any of them. St Lucia Zouks did the double over them in Florida at the weekend and then Guyana beat them in the playoff opener on Wednesday night.

In two of those defeats they have failed to register 150 which isn’t good and that is the area they need to improve in if they are to win this match and make it through to the final. The pressure is on them though as finishing in the top two and not making the final would be a waste of a good season.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago should be on a high coming into this match after they dominated the St Lucia Zouks in the pressurised setting of a knockout match on Thursday night. This is a side who are starting to really prove their worth in must win cricket having won the title last year from outside the top two and they are now a third of the way towards repeating that feat.

It is now back to back wins in this tournament for the Knight Riders with Brendon McCullum’s form with the bat very much a strong reason for that. A solid bowling attack is helping too with Sunil Narine starting deliver with the bat as well as the ball.

Betting

This looks an extremely close match on paper but Jamaica have a couple of things going for them. Firstly they have already done the double over Trinbago this season and as I’ve been banging on about all tournament they have had the day off between matches and that has proved vital throughout this competition and others around the world.

It is a slight concern that Jamaica Tallawahs come into this match off the back of three defeats in a row but I can’t believe a side as laid back as theirs is will worry too much about that. If they can put in a solid performance they should be able to take advantage of any tiredness and fatigue in their opponents and finally secure their place in the final.
