Caribbean Premier League – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

We have reached the final day of the league phase of the Caribbean Premier League and it is the last day in Florida too on Sunday. We complete this section of the season with a double header which is the second of the weekend.

Everything has been settled as far as the table is concerned so when the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Trinbago Knight Riders meet to open up the final day action it is just pride and momentum that is at stake which should make for a decent game of cricket.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

We all know by now that the season hasn’t gone as planned for the Patriots but they did give their followers something to cheer in their first match in Florida when they eased to what many saw as a surprising victory against the Knight Riders.

Evin Lewis was their hero in that match and it was good to see one of their better batsmen stand up and be counted. He will be hoping he gets some quality support from the rest of the line up here as the Patriots look to finish their campaign on a high and offer something to take into next season with them.

Trinbago Knight Riders

They had to rely on other results at times but the defending champions have made it into the playoffs and while they will be playing knockout cricket right from the start they were in the same position last season so they are in familiar territory.

The Knight Riders will be hoping to go into the playoffs with a win and if that is to happen then their batting line up is going to have to fire as a collective unit. They have arguably the best batting line up in the tournament in terms of pure names but names on paper mean nothing. They need to score runs out on the field and they didn’t do that on Friday night.

Betting

I was wary about taking Trinbago at a short price the first time these two sides met on Friday night and I was proved right as St Kitts and Nevis put in their best performance of the season and with the confidence they will have taken from that I certainly can’t be taking the Knight Riders at a short price here.

Not for the first time this weekend I’m lured to the sixes line where I am staggered an 11.5 line is odds against. If we ignore the opening match in Florida where the lights were awful and the wicket needed bedding in, the three matches in proper conditions since then have seen sixes totals of 16, 15 and 13.

Given that the 16 came when these two met on Friday night and that was with the likes of Lendl Simmons, Brendon McCullum, Umar Akmal and Dwayne Bravo facing just 21 balls between them without hitting a single six. That means there is even more to come from these two when it comes to six hitting so the 11.5 line looks far too low.
